St. Viateur Bagel

263 St. Viateur West, Montreal, QC, H2V 1Y1

Rated this place:

the Battle of the Bagels continues...: St. Viateur has expanded to sell ½ dozen bags of bagels in grocery stores all around Montreal and beyond. This successful shop - complete with giant Sesame mascot - oversees 2 bagel cafes and 3 bagel bakeries around Montreal in addition to the legendary original location - 263 St. Viateur. Open since 1957, the original St. Viateur is in operation 24/7 and boasts sales of over 1,000 bagels per day. Large orders can be shipping throughout Canada and the US, however feel free to stop in for a freshly baked hand-rolled bagel and cream cheese, which will set you back a mere $2.50 but keep you satisfied for hours.

Fairmount Bagel Bakery

74 Fairmount West, Montreal, QC, H2T2M2

Rated this place:

Bagels, bagels, bagels: Since 1949, Fairmount bagels has been churning out over 20 different varieties of hand-rolled and wood-fired bagel including egg-free organic Spelt and Buckwheat Bagel, New York Style Pretzels, and flavours such as Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, Onion, Caraway Seed, Pesto and black olive, All Dressed, and of course the original – sesame bagel. Fairmount offers delivery service and fresh, warm bagels in-store at the tiny, hole-in-the-wall bakery, with one of over seven flavours of cream cheese, with or without accompanying Lox. Watch bagels being made through the tiny window of Montreal’s first bagel bakery, which produces bagels 24/7 that are now sold at Costco, IGA, Metro and Provigo supermarkets, as well.
