Jean Talon Market

7075 Casgrain Ave, Montreal, QC

Rated this place:

To market to market: Delightful indoor/outdoor market located in the heart of Montreal’s Little Italy between Saint-Denis and Saint-Laurent at Jean-Talon. Pick up some BioBon spreadable artisanal végé pâté from Compton’s own Boutique BioBon at Fromagerie Qui lait cru!?! to accompany your choice of organic Quebec farm cheese. Pick up a slice of Manchego, Spain’s most famous cheese, from Fromagerie Hamel, or a refreshing cone of ice cream or sorbet at Havre aux glaces. If you are feeling particularly carnivorous, choose a couple of cuts from eco-friendly pork butcher Porc Meilleur, or head over to Le Veau Charlevoix to sample some of the 100% Holstein grain and milk-fed veal products, such as liver, tongue, brain, heart or prepared veal such as Osso Bucco, veal sausages, or bavette. Afterwards, stop off for a plate of fried calamari or fish & chips at Poissonnerie Aqua Mare, or grab some flax-fed free range chicken eggs, Québec honey, or maple syrup at Le Capitaine. After you have finished your grocery shopping, you can stop in for a late lunch or an espresso at one of the nearby Italian restaurants.

One fish, two fish...: Family-owned and operated, Poissonnerie Sherbrooke is a small Westmount grocer that provides a fresh and eye catching assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables in a cozy environment mostly occupied by daily fresh fish and shellfish, gourmet food additives and canned delicacies, alongside bread and baked goods. Poissonerie Sherbrooke offers catering, seafood and party platters for your next event, and was featured as “Best in Montreal" in the National Post July 2004 article on "The Best Urban Fishing Holes in Canada”.
