National Ballet School

404 Jarvis St, Toronto, ON, M4Y2G6

Rated this place:

Ballet for grown-ups: Aside from a year-long stint doing "jazz ballet" as an 11-year-old, I never took dance classes as a kid. But I always wanted to, so a few years ago I signed up for beginner adult ballet at NBS. The classes are fantastic, whether you're a true beginner as I was or are picking ballet up again. They're all pre-registered, so you progressively learn new things every week, and are taught in the amazing Jarvis Street facilities with professional teachers and a live accompanist. 7+ years of levels means you can keep learning for a long, long time, and you wouldn't believe how many compliments I get on my posture now that I've learned to stand tall.

Show your twinkle toes!: When it’s time to take your budding ballerina or Billy Elliot off to try out their twinkle toes, this is a great place to try. Their philosophy is that dance is learned in a comfortable and confidence building environment. The teacher is appropriately strict not expecting too much from the new dancers, but teaching them about etiquette and discipline. They have different types to try out from ballet to tap, jazz and boy’s street dance, modern and even yoga. Prices are pretty good too!
