Mezes

456 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON, M4K1P4

Rated this place:

Best of Greektown: Anything East of Yonge is so foreign to me, I feel like I'm in another city. And with all the different Greek restaurants lining the street, it's easy to fall into a tourist trap in this destination neighborhood. The dip platter is excellent (especially the tzatziki and the taramosalata, they'll give you extra large portions of just the two, if you ask) and the mains are huge. Just order some appetizers and share a main. Everything is simple, fresh, and delicious. Now that we know a great spot, we've been more excited to venture away from the west end and explore more of the city.

Quince Restaurant

2110 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON, M4S 2A5

Rated this place:

Taste the Mediterranean: One of Yonge & Eglinton's newest additions, Quince opened up in 2007 and was recognized as one of the Best New Restaurants by Toronto Life. Situated in a tough competition area for restaurants, Quince doesn't seem to be slowing down - and that's great news for and rustic Mediterranean-style cuisine lovers.Inventive dishes like a pork dumpling soup with chorizo, mushrooms and agnolotti; Moroccan-spice oven roasted salmon and Israeli couscous; and warm chocolate bread pudding, are a sample of what can be found at Quince - and my selection for this past visit. Flavours are more rustic than mature but the dishes themselves are a nice treat from the ordinary restaurant in Toronto's midtown.Quince is also a great place for cocktails and martinis, though the wine list by the glass is limited. They've got a great party area for groups downstairs - private with lots of room for both standing and seating arrangements. Staff is very knowledgeable and really friendly and definitely make an impression. Enjoy!
