Take a picnic, your sneakers and your family!: The Toronto Zoo is a fantastic place that we should all frequent. Besides the obvious animal watching and learning (which is amazing, and extra impressive are all of the very knowledgeable vounteers willing to give you so much attention), you can go for a great walk or jog, and it's certainly the place for your whole family...all year round. Although the Zoo now has a stand selling local Ontario produce (ick, in plastic containers) and has a green section in their store selling organic cotton caps and refillable Klean Kanteens for water, they still have a long way to go (especially with the food they serve in restaurant spots), so pack your own picnic and try making it litterless. (interesting fact - the Zoo does not give out straws with any of their drinks because plastic straws are dangerous to the animals!). Get ready to "disconnect" from the city...time to walk and talk and smile.

The Toronto Zoo: So much fun for the whole family! The Toronto Zoo is huge! In addition to seeing all the different animals that they will never see anywhere else, they also have a fantastic water park for kids—my girls could spend the whole day there! Bring along a picnic and enjoy a relaxing lunch outdoors. There is a lot of walking so if you go with kids make sure you bring a wagon to pull them in. I love watching the giraffes who are so graceful and the orangutans always get my girls laughing with their crazy antics!
