OurFaves is like new and improved word of mouth. It’s an interactive city guide that lets you discover and share the best places in the city, as chosen by you and local experts. Explore the city through different categories, neighbourhoods, and social groups in your quest for the very best. You can join the conversation by rating, reviewing, and recommending places you love – or don’t love – in your community and beyond. Get creative, add a profile and share reviews of your own, join a group (or two, or three), and enjoy exploring your community through the eyes of other passionate people.

The OurFaves Philosophy

OurFaves was born out of the desire to amplify local voices on the subject of what’s the best in the city. It's simple really...the first place we turn when we need a good tip on the local scene is to our trusted sources – friends and people-in-the-know who share our standards for what's great.

Thing is, what’s great to us, might be different from what’s great to you, what reviewers think is great, or from what’s newest, hottest and getting most of the media attention.

So we came up with OurFaves - a site where the best is defined by you and local experts. We’re all really passionate about where we live, and think OurFaves is a great way to share and discover hidden gems, neighbourhood haunts, and all places new and interesting.

We hope this revolution in word of mouth revolutionizes how you experience your city, and your community, both online and off.

Candice Faktor

Managing Director, Corporate Development and Innovation – Torstar Digital

Candice’s passion for new technology and media led to her creation of OurFaves. An innovator and strategist in the Canadian online media industry, she loves keeping up with where the web is headed. Candice is also passionate about enjoying the city, reading, movies, traveling to new countries, and spending time with her family and friends.

Timothy Leung

Lead Web Architect

Tim received a BS in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and has been involved with Ourfaves since conception. At OurFaves, he brings to the table a distinct point of view on product development and social media. Learn more about Tim on his twitter account.

Donald Ho

Lead Web Architect

Donald is a graduate of the University of Waterloo’s Computer Science Program and is one of the two technical architects who make everything tick on OurFaves. Bringing both technical and product expertise to the OurFaves team, he has played a key part of making OurFaves what it is today. When he’s not busy with OurFaves he enjoys basketball, food and checking out the city he lives in.

Wendy Goldman

Web and Community Editor

A Toronto native, Wendy studied history at McGill University before receiving her Master’s in journalism from Boston University. She joined the OurFaves editorial team in April 2008 and has since become better acquainted with social media and all things Toronto. When she’s not playing with words she can be found savouring a delicious meal or lost in a new book.

Frances Olimpo

Editorial & Community Coordinator

Frances started with OurFaves as an editorial intern and has been hooked ever since. She has freelanced for Torstar publications such as Toronto Star, Sway, and Canadian Immigrant since 2007 and recently graduated from Centennial College with a post-grad diploma in Book & Magazine Publishing.
