A list of places to go when you want to have fun, but don't necessarily want to do the whole club scene thing ...

Blowfish Restaurant & Sake Bar

Japanese Fusion: This restaurant is Japanese fusion at its finest. Coverted from an old bank building, it's a great place to meet up with close friends because of its beautiful and intimate atmosphere. From Thursday and over the weekend, a live DJ performs. They have a full selection of sushi, hot and cold plates, and sake brands. Whether you sit at the bar or in the main dining room, choose one of their famous sake brands to enjoy with dinner. To eat, I like the Miso Marinated Black Cod, $20. Also try their selection of sushi for a different take on the standard cuisine! Outdoor patio available during the warmer months!

Spice Route

499 King Street West, Toronto, ON, M6N 1H7

The Club Scene, without being too clubby ...: If you looking to spend a night out with friends and some drinks, then Spice Route may be a fair choice. You can move from dinner to dancing and drinks easily. The music is loud; the seating is ample; the atmosphere is dark. Check out their patio which is really inviting (there's a fish pond). If you plan to eat, reservations are a must, especially heading closer to the weekend.

KiWe

Business in the Back, Party in the front: While the space is small, it does lend to a really cozy atmosphere. Dining is towards the back and its quite private and intimate. The food is great and you can enjoy your dinner with a selection form their winelist. In the front, there is a bar which, depending on how late you stay, gets pretty busy. KiWe is unassuming at first glance from the street, but certainly worth a try!
