Not just any old fabric!: This place is not like Fabricland at all! If you make your own clothes, shop here for fashionista style fabrics and patterns by top designers like Tula Pink, Amy Butler and the like. Redecorating? You can rent fabric swatches for reupholstering to bring home and see what it would really look like! You can also find great Amy Butler Patterns which I love because it’s not like the patterns your grandmother use to buy!

Ikea Canada

Throw me a Rug!: Ikea is great for home decor on a budget because you can find many items to suit any mood of decor: classic, minimalist, eccentric you name it. I think one of the best things about Ikea is their textiles and rugs department. All the visuals in that one area are inspiring and you can design a whole room around one eye-catching rug or a metre of fabric (that you will eventually make drapes out of or reupholster a chair with). If you happen to be a seamstress or a real good DIY'er, then definitely check out their fabrics which are colorful and graphic.

Dollarama Inc

Bang for your Buck!: The perfect place for crafters and do-it-yourselfer’s. Dollarama has an aisle full of papers, notions and accessories for those who make jewellery, scrapbook, and sew. While it’s a mish-mash of everything from kids’ toys to household products to candy, I find Dollarama to be the “Rolls Royce” of dollar stores. I shop here for crafting pieces to decorate gifts and also cheap tupperware to be used for storage and organizing my pantry!

Sew Crazy ...: If you are a seamstress, quilter or crafter, you are probably familiar with Fabricland. If I'm planning on sewing something for the babies of friends or looking to sew something for a seasonal holiday (Christmas, Hallowe'en), this is where I will pick up my fabric. they have a great selection of patterns suitable for babies and fun fabrics for toddlers and kids. You can find Thomas the Train, Strawberry Shortcake, and Cars. They also have a membership card which provides a further discount on fabrics for members.
