As a small business owner, it's up to me to keep my supply closet stocked and my office organized ... here are the places I frequent for everything form stationary to computer programs!

Essence Du Papier

2476 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario, M4P 2H5

Look Pretty on Paper: The art of the handwritten letter is not lost! Find a large selection of stationary sets at Essence Du Papier as well as fine gift-wrap and ribbons. The storefront on Yonge is a little small, but filled with pretty notecards and journals. It makes you want to BE a writer. They have a huge selection of paper goods that make great gifts for weddings, graduations, or promotions. They also offer a service for personalized gift cards and invitations. I like them for their selection of Moleskin notebooks and agendas. They also have a larger store in the concourse in the Financial District.

Apple Store

1800 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, M2J5A7

I use to be a PC, now I'm a MAC: It is not possible to walk out of an Apple Store without wanting to purchase something new for your home computer, OR, wanting to swtich from a PC. Apple Fairview has great customer service. I like Apple for their customer support, namely the Genius Bar. As someone who recently purchased a new MacBook, I like the ability to go into a Mac and testdrive all their machines before making a set purchase. Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They also give lessons on how to make the most of all your Mac programs.

Best Buy

480 Progress Avenue, Scarborough, Ontario, M1P5J1

One-stop computer accessories: Since I run my own business and run it all from my home computer, I always go to Best Buy to pick up what I need from printer paper to new software. True to their commercials, I never feel pressure to buy which is probably because Best Buy isn't commission based. I usually get SimpleTech external harddrives for backing up my computer. They also have a very extensive dvd and cd selection which is always fun to browse. Last but not least, they do have a points program, which with all my purchases, add up!!

Staples Business Depot

1936 McCowan Road, Scarborough, Ontario, M1S4K1

Getting the staples for your business!: If you are a small business owner and need to build your “home office” Staples can help you out. Their aisles are clearly organized and have everything a small office requires from office furniture to printer ink to paper file folders. You can also get your printing for newsletters, flyers, or business cards made for a reasonable price. They have a large printing centre and you can drop your order off, or shop while you wait. If you are a frequent customer at Staples, take advantage of their rewards card and save yourself even more money!

Ikea Canada

15 Provost Dr, North York, ON, M2K2X9

Throw me a Rug!: Ikea is great for home decor on a budget because you can find many items to suit any mood of decor: classic, minimalist, eccentric you name it. I think one of the best things about Ikea is their textiles and rugs department. All the visuals in that one area are inspiring and you can design a whole room around one eye-catching rug or a metre of fabric (that you will eventually make drapes out of or reupholster a chair with). If you happen to be a seamstress or a real good DIY'er, then definitely check out their fabrics which are colorful and graphic.

Chapters

2901 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, ON, M2K1E6

Kids Love to Play ... I mean read: Shopping and playtime all in one. Chapters (or Indigo) is a great place to spend the afternoon with the family. There is something for everyone. For kids, they love the Thomas the Train table and the selection of books that their school library doesn't have. For parents, they can have a cup of Starbucks and review the latest bestsellers as their kids play and explore. There is ample seating available and no pressure to buy, so you can spend the afternoon with your kids looking at and reading books. Even though you do not have to buy, check out their clearance shelves. Both you and your children will be able to find titles worth buying.
