Favourite places to go when my sweet tooth starts tingling.

Chocoatl

1127 Mainland Street, Vancouver, BC, V6B 5P2

Cocoa and truffles: One of the first cocoa bars to grace the city, and still my favourite of them all. Intriguing truffle flavours like tequila, tobacco, fennel, and balsamic vinegar keep me coming back to sample them all.

Mondo Gelato

1222 Robson, Vancouver, BC, V6E 1C1

Gelato: Nothing beats a scoop of gelato on a hot day. Choose from two locations: Robson & Bute and Denman & Comox. Great selection of fruity sorbettos for the lactose intolerant (like me). More photos: http://tiny.cc/B0W4n

Trees Organic Coffee

450 Granville Street, Vancouver, BC, V6C 1V4

Rated this place:

posted Aug 14 2008

Note: Trees has a wide selection of creamy cheesecakes whose quality outshines other dessert eateries in the downtown core. More info on Tiny Bites: http://tinybites.ca/2008/07/26/a-survey-of-cheesecake-at-trees-organic-coffee/

Tuna salad sandwich: I went there the other day to have lunch plus a slice of their renowned cheesecake. It was love at first bite for my tuna salad baguette, toasted and pressed on their panini grill. I inhaled the entire thing and wound up having little belly room left for dessert! Cookies by George

1114 Denman Street, Vancouver

Rated this place:

Cookie: Cookies by George had a kiosk in Metrotown while I was in high school and university (yay) but it has since disappeared (boo). Happily, another store now graces the city near Denman & Davie. I have already been there several times to stock up on my favourite cookie: the reverse almond chocolate chunk. More info on Tiny Bites: http://tinyurl.com/6yeqw7

Savary Island Pie Company

1533 Marine Drive, West Vancouver

Rated this place:

posted Aug 16 2008

Pie: You can often find us spending a lazy summer afternoon strolling along Ambleside beach after a decadent chicken pot pie or tortiere lunch at Savary Island. My favourite for dessert is blueberry...but I often don't have room left in my tummy! More on Tiny Bites: http://tinyurl.com/62np3r

À La Mode

1689 Johnston Street, Vancouver

Rated this place:

Pot pie: From chicken pot pie to french onion soup, this kiosk inside the Granville Island Public Market delivers a rainbow of baked savouries. They're not too shabby with the tarts and meringues, either. More info on Tiny Bites: http://tinyurl.com/686zgx

La Bretagne Creperie

795 Jervis Street, Vancouver, BC

Rated this place:

posted Jul 4 2008

Creperie: The place I go to satisfy my frequent cravings for crepes and galettes. Leagues better than the franchises that are spattered across downtown Vancouver. Enjoy your meal while sipping on apple cider and listening to Isabelle sing French ditties while she cooks.
