Small scale and clean lines: Famous for catering to the small-scale needs and modern tastes of the downtown condo crowd, Style Garage delivers on clean lines and the choice of multiple custom finishes for the finicky shopper. Industrial-looking cylinder pendants are only $145, while the bigger items, such as the groovy Delano chair and Bathurst Credenza are more of investment pieces at $1,800 and $2,960 respectively.

Eclectic wares from local artisans : This fine art and craft shop is a wonderful place to scout for handmade gifts and items for the home. Owner Sandra Tarantino stocks wares from Canadian artisans, including handmade cushions by Erin Vincent, adorable printed cotton cocktail napkins by Avril Loreti and superbly odd gift cards and notebooks by Mary-Anne Wensley. If you’re more hands on, C1 also offers classes for kids and adults on everything from ceramics and silk-screening to encaustics and collage.

Ministry of the Interior (M.O.T.I. Inc.)

Wonderful and wacky wares for the home: This two-year-old quirky shop has made a fast name for itself selling more avant-garde wares than its high-end contemporary peers. Shoppers can make a statement with a pink resin Harry Allen piggy bank and pick up a matching-hued steel desk lamp from Jielde if they’re so inclined. In addition to carrying textiles from fan favourites Dwell Studio and wallpapers by Cole and Son, Ministry of the Interior can also boast exclusivity for Castor Design.

Note: Not technically for your home...unless you count your closet...

Preloved style for the individual: This sunny narrow space on Ossington carries a well-rounded collection of vintage clothing and accessories selectively sourced from private collections. The variety of flirty dresses, cozy sweaters and multiple pairs of fabulous party shoes takes the stress out of the hunt for that unique preloved item. In addition to the vintage, Silver Falls is carrying clothing from up-and-comings labels Built By Wendy, Eve Gravel and Priestess NYC. Be sure to check out the swoon-worthy bows produced by Dagworthy. The stunning creations are fashioned of high-quality ribbon with whimsical embellishments that could charm even the grumpiest gal.
