Today, May 1st, is Buy Indie Day. Support your local independent bookshops by purchasing any book - softcover, hardcover, or audiobook. Here are a few of my favorites.

Indie bookstore: I know I have a lot of bookstore faves - I really like books - but I couldn't resist adding another. I don't know how I walked passed this store so many times without going in. Everything about it is perfect, right down to the graphic damask print on the walls. They have a well chosen collection of books with a great selection of design and children's books.

Stunning displays!: I like to think of this place as more of a "book gallery" than a "bookstore". Each book is displayed cover forward - so, while it's not the best way to conserve shelf space, it is the most beautiful.

Their collection is well curated and I'm yet to ask about a book that isn't already on their radar. They hold great book launches and reading events.

Canadian-Content Heaven: This little book store seems far more at home in their new location. I hadn't even realized that Kensington didn't have a great and quirky bookstore until this place opened, and now I can't imagine it without one.

Despite it's small space, the store is still hosting the events that everyone loved at the church street spot - they're just a little more intimate.
