My favourite places to eat uptown around the Markham area. Check em out.

Terra Restaurant

Chocolate torte, Dessert, Dining experience, Roasted quail: It's made so very well (and tasty) and the presentation is so pretty it makes you reluctant to eat it.

The presentation is awesome and the taste just great.

The entire experience is so complete: Great food, awesome presentation (especially the dessert) and superb service.

They manage to enhance the taste of quail without completely hiding the natural taste, and as always with Terra, it has great presentation.

Centre Street Deli

Sandwich: Their corned beef sandwiches are awesome - do yourself a favour and don't go for the lean meat. Get at least the medium meat.

Sam Woo BBQ

Late night chinese food: They've been doing it for years and years... There's good reason for it too, as the food is good, not pricey and perfect for late night.

Ambassador Chinese Cuisine

280 West Beaver Creek Rd #38, Richmond Hill, ON, L4B3Z1

Chinese restaurant, Dim sum restaurants: They have the most consistently good chinese food uptown. Their service is also impeccable.

The service is great, as is the food. Not too pricey for the quality either. The deep fried shrimp rolls are excellent.

Kenzo's Japanese Noodle House

6180 Yonge St, Toronto, ON, M2M 3X1

Japanese ramen, Tacoyaki: Their food is prepared in a "just so" manner and all is very tasty. They do what they are good at and don't try to do more.

In my admittedly limited tacoyaki experience, they do a pretty good job preparing this Japanese snack.

Owl of Minerva

5324 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON, M2N6M2

Pork bone soup: For the price you pay the quality is very very good. One of the best places to get pork bone soup. Period.

Tresca Trattoria Ltd

9301 Bathurst St, Richmond Hill, ON, L4C9S2

Creme brulee: It was quite excellent. Their "signature" dessert, it had great presentation and more imporantly, tasted great.

GAL sushi

3621 Hwy 7 E Unit 106, Markham, ON, L3R 0G6

Sushi pizza: Their presentation is nice and fills that sushi pizza craving quite nicely.

Golden Star Restaurant

7123 Yonge St, Thornhill, ON, L3T2A8

Burger joints 2008: It's been around forever doing their thing and doing it well. Do yourself a favour if you go and don't get the basic burger - pay a little more for the Banquet or steak on a bun.

Chako Barbeque

163 York Blvd., Richmond Hill, ON

Korean bbq: It's not too pricey, has meat that isn't overmarinated and is very well ventilated. (Key for not coming out smelling like what you just ate!)

MOIM Korean Restaurant

7325 Yonge Street, Markham, ON, L3T 2B2

Dolsot bibimbap, Korean sidedishes: It's slightly different from other typical place's Korean Dolsot Bibimbap. They don't use typical white rice, but multigrain rice and overall I thought it was excellent.

They offer a slightly different set of Korean side dishes, presented slightly nicer as well. Still very tasty. :)

Chinese Dumpling House

3636 Steeles E, Toronto, ON, L3R1K9

Chinese dessert, Dumpling house, Dumplings: Well, you'd have to try them to know, but they are: 1. Fried 2. Covered with sugar 3.Filled with really good red bean paste. Believe me, they are really good. They are the most authentic place uptown I know of to get dumplings and other northern chinese cuisine. And their food is awesome. If you need English, they do have an english menu that you can get. (Their sign adds to their flavour...) They have to be some of the best dumplings I have ever had - and I've been to MANY of them.

MI-NE Japanese Restaurant

10815 Yonge St., Richmond Hill, ON, L4C 3E3

Best Uptown Sushi Place: Despite the unassuming exterior, it's quite nice inside and they have some of the freshest fish I've had - all for a pretty reasonable price. All their food is good, but I especially recommend anything that is actually sushi, be it the rolls, maki or sushi pizza.

Stars of Thai

3150 Hwy 7 East, Unit 1, Markham, ON, L3R 5A1

Favourite Thai Restaurant uptown: If you're looking for a good thai place uptown, you can't go wrong with Stars of Thai. I especially like their duck curry (call ahead if you want to make sure they have it) it's a panang-style duck curry that is excellent.
