Title: Studio Breathe is 8500 square feet of tranquil space in the historic Le Nordelec building, a former industrial warehouse in Pointe Ste. Charles. Just a hop, skip and a jump from other heath-nut features like the Atwater Market, Allez-Up, or the Lachine Canal bike pike. Featuring exposed brick, giant 17-foot floor windows which lead up to an open ceiling, bamboo floors, and soothing shades of white, beige, brown and grey, Breathe also offers massage therapy, pedicures and manicures, catering, physiotherapy and nutrition consultation by appointment at the in-house spa. Studio Breathe is comprised of three studios which offer 40+ classes per week, plus a juice bar and lounge, and full service locker rooms decorated in tranquil blue glass tile, wooden lockers which give the room a warm and natural atmosphere. A bit pricey at $20 per drop-on class, or $130/month, Breathe focuses on small class sizes with minimal equipment for maximum results. This beautiful space is available for corporate rentals, and is a great option for business functions, events or product launches/cocktail parties.

Victoria Park

pish posh : Victoria Park is the new kid on the block in Westmount, catering to the posh crowd. A membership at Victoria Park will set you back about $200/month, but these can be bargained down to less if you aren’t using underground parking, and other amenities, or so I’m told. This gym is comprised mainly of natural and local materials (such as the all-wood Yoga “barns”) and state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Soon enough Victoria Park will offer a manicure-pedicure studio, hair salon, a café and gourmet health food store, and on-the-spot botox injections for $10 a hit (included in this price is a private exit straight to the underground valet parking). Definitely not your average local sweat spot.

YMCA Westmount

"It's fun to stay at the y-m-c-a...": The Westmount YMCA offers over 12 different fitness classes to choose from per day, as well as swimming, child and youth programs, activities for mom and tots, after school programs and drop-ins. You can find fitness and health seminars, Red Cross CPR certification courses, volunteer opportunities, qualified fitness trainers, and state of the art equipment. The YMCA is a great addition to any neighbourhood, is completely non-exclusive plain, good, old-fashioned fun. Membership and monthly fees are significantly less than competing Westmount private spa clubs such as Victoria Park or The Atwater Club, so its a great choice for those on a budget. In addition, the Y has its own swimming pool and hosts the YMCA Master’s Swim Club for adults.
