These days, its hard to keep kids entertained ... and it is even harder to do it on a budget. Here are a couple of places where kids can have fun for less than $10!

Mega Fun 4 Kids

91 Rylander Boulevard, Scaborough, Ontario, M1B5M5

Playtime for Everyone: Indoor playgrounds are great for days when the weather is less then stellar. This particular playground is clean and well organized. Older kids can take part in dress up or monkey around the large pirate ship jungle gym. They have a gated area for infants which keeps them out of the way of older kids. Kids of all ages will love the ball pit!! Parents will love the ample seating areas. There is a kitchen where parents can warm up food, store cold food, and wash up their children afterward. They host parties. You can purchase a "punch card" or monthly membership, or pay just $5 to drop-in.

Chapters

2901 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, ON, M2K1E6

Kids Love to Play ... I mean read: Shopping and playtime all in one. Chapters (or Indigo) is a great place to spend the afternoon with the family. There is something for everyone. For kids, they love the Thomas the Train table and the selection of books that their school library doesn't have. For parents, they can have a cup of Starbucks and review the latest bestsellers as their kids play and explore. There is ample seating available and no pressure to buy, so you can spend the afternoon with your kids looking at and reading books. Even though you do not have to buy, check out their clearance shelves. Both you and your children will be able to find titles worth buying.

Chuck E. Cheese

Fun for Everyone and lots of Pizza!: Every child needs to experience Chuck E. Cheese at least once. Video, carnival games, and pizza … need I say more? With a huge arcade area and games suitable for all ages, you and your brood can enjoy a fun afternoon at Chuck E. Cheese. Play some skeeball or clown around in the back, near the stage where Chuck E Cheese and his friends perform regularly. There is no obligation to purchase food nor is there an entrance fee, so you can bring your child and just purchase tokens in order to play the games. Redeem all the tickets you get from playing for prizes.

Kids on the Loose without losing them ...: Every year, it gets harder and harder to find a new place to hold your child's birthday party. Indoor playgrounds are always a great place to start because there is usually something for everyone. Parents have a place to sit and chat while the kids can run around in a controlled environment. The party room at Kids on the Loose can accommodate a large party and there is enough space in their massive jungle gym for all the little ones. You can even cater or bring in your own food for your party!

Mastermind Educational Toys

A Toy Store Parents Could Love: Why not make toys and treats for your children fun AND educational? From books to dolls to Lego sets, children can learn as they play - so you don't have to feel guilty for indulging them. You'll find recognizable brands, like Lego, Mega Blocks, American Girl, and Thomas the Train. There is also a variety of reading books and if you’re supplementing your children’s education at home, pick up workbooks and rewards stickers here. Try the Jolly Phonics workbooks which are great for pre-schoolers. The atmosphere is bright, colourful and stimulating, and there are stations where kids can play and test out new things. Be forewarned: children will want to stay here forever!
