Playground: It looks like a gigantic castle! It's right outside the Petting Zoo and Miniature Railway area and it makes me wish I was 7 years old again but I still play on it anyways!

Second Beach

Outdoor swimming pool: This pool is so amazing - it's huge and it's kind of in the ocean. If you don't like swimming in the actual ocean this is the next best thing. And if you don't like swimming or if a bunch of strangers with bare feet grosses you out, then you can just stand there and watch all of the craziness. Note: Concession nearby with hotdogs and ice cream...

Richmond Night Market

Place to pig out: Yum yum car-wheels! Tasty waffley thingees stuffed with nutella. I crave them all winter...

Public transit, Way to get to granville island: It's amazing how rarely many of us Vancouverites actually get out on the water considering we're surrounded by it; it's also the perfect way to feel like you are on vacation - take it over to Granville Island and be a tourist!

I also just found out that, after you spend some time at Granville Island you can re-board the boat and complete the entire circuit for an affordable little mini cruise! They also have charters - how fun would it be to book the boat and have a private cruise? Anyone want to dress up as pirates and terrorize False Creek for about half an hour? Yay!

Suspension bridge: It's free so how can you top that? Also I love walking down to the water on the other side, it's beautiful.

Central Park

Best Playground Ever! : Award winning Variety Club playground. It has lots of different stations set up, great for all ages from barely walking - kind of like several playgrounds all in one place. And, the coolest slide ever made out of rollers (warning - I went down it and it hurt, so I think it's best left to little bums). Picnic tables dotted around the area make it a nice outing. The only down side is that it seems to stay snowy way longer than the rest of the lower mainland so be prepared in winter and wear your warm clothes and boots.

Storytime for Kids: This is my local library - it's not as fancy as the one downtown but we like going here for story time and songs. They have a nice little corner where the kids can gather. Days and times change throughout the year so check with the library for current information. Also just a nice pit stop any day that you want to duck out of the rain or the hot sun for a few minutes. Great selection of kids CDs too.
