DIY for the Budding Fashion Designer: Check out their Kids After School Program. Suitable for young crafters from 8 to 12 years, students will create and complete a project each class such as pajama pants, tote bags, and even teddy bears! They focus on fashion and garment construction since every young girl wants to be a fashion designer. Friendly and knowledgeable instructors plus small and intimate classes. They also have classes for teens, Junior Fashion Series and Teen PLUS. Parents can also learn with their children and take an Introductory Sewing class as well. By the end of the Introductory Sewing Class, you’ll be able to make your own skirt (or pants if you are male) from a pattern. You can learn all the basic sewing skills you need to do fun projects on your own by the end of the class.

Knitting is Hot: Located in The Beaches, knitters shop here for the best in yarns for hand knitted scarves, sweaters and baby blankets. Take one of their classes or join them for knitting nights on Wednesdays! Bamboo Tape yarn because its makes the softest scarves and sweaters.

Not just any old fabric!: This place is not like Fabricland at all! If you make your own clothes, shop here for fashionista style fabrics and patterns by top designers like Tula Pink, Amy Butler and the like. Redecorating? You can rent fabric swatches for reupholstering to bring home and see what it would really look like! You can also find great Amy Butler Patterns which I love because it’s not like the patterns your grandmother use to buy!

Nathalie-Roze & Co.

Do it Yourself Style!: An unassuming storefront located in Leslieville. Shop here for unique gifts and clothing and lines from Toronto–based designers and crafters. A great place for those who appreciate handcrafted and one-of-a-kind items! I like to visit Nathalie Roze for it's love of indie designers, such as Melissa Clemente Designs - beautiful handcrafted jewellery inspired by her homeland. It's also a good place to go to find a gift for someone you think already has everything ... chances are she won't have anything as unique as what you find here!
