10 Spot

girls day out: A luxurious treat for you and also a good choice for a girls day out. I love the vibe because it's relaxed and fun, and the staff is sociable and friendly. Plus, the delicious drinks and DVDs available on hand to distract you if you choose to get waxed, are huge bonuses. 10 Spot also hosts private parties so if it's more than a few of you or you're having a bachelorette party, this place is ideal. Come for the manis, pedis, facials and massages, and stay for the loungy atmosphere, good conversation and gracious service. Also, it's located in one of Toronto's hippest 'hoods -- West Queen West, so after pampering you and your friends can check out some of the city's best shopping and dining along this strip.

Ritual Tanning Salon & Nail Bar

manicures, pedicures and tanning: I really like the conveniently combined services they offer at Ritual. I recently visited this place before a trip down south to get a manicure and pedicure and thought it was great that they also offered tanning services. It's perfect for Canadians like me that want to get a little colour before exposing their pasty white skin on the beach. Ritual is also fast when you're in a hurry. They offer express manicures for $20 and express pedicures for $27. I also like the environment, because it’s modern, bright, and clean (which is very important).

Time for Nails

cheap manis and pedis: Walk ins are welcome at this tiny nail salon located on Bay Street, next to The Atrium. The place is clean and the staff does a great job - very thorough and very fast. If you're in a rush, two nail technicians can do your mani and pedi at the same time and you're in and out in 30 minutes. It's often packed, especially in the summertime but they are quick to accommodate you and the wait is short as there's always at least six people on staff. The salon also does professional waxing. A manicure and pedicure together costs $35. And waxing is 20% off on Tuesdays.

Concepts Salon & Spa

60 Bloor St W, Holt Renfrew Centre, Toronto, ON, M4W 1A1

massages and pedicures: When I first walked by this spa, I thought it was a tiny boutique that sold high-end beauty and hair products (which they do), but once you go beyond the entrance you'll see a spacious salon, treatment rooms and a manicure/pedicure area. I love the convenient location (at Bay and Bloor) and the spa gets my vote for best hot stone massages and pedicures. I'd also recommend Nancy at Concepts, a registered massage therapist. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing, which is surprising considering the spa is located in a busy underground path, in the Holt Renfrew Centre. It's also perfect for clients that work nearby and are able to book an appointment during their lunch hour.

Lux Spa

25 Bellair Street, Toronto, ON, M5R 3L3

quick manicures: Lux Spa specializes in manicures and pedicures and offers a wide range of treatments from paraffin masques for your hands to the ultimate in pampering for your feet. I like coming here for the mini-manicure that costs $30. It's quick and fast, and I'm always happy with the results. Lux also offer a sports mani that's basically a manicure without the polish, as well as a polish change for $18. Located in Yorkville, it’s a good place to stop when you want to take a break from shopping, or treat yourself.
