Collector, treasure hunter, deal seeker. I love digging for collectibles in the record piles and thrift racks. In the junk stores, flea markets and even your grandmas basement, just look around. There I'll be snagging that original pressing of "Kind Of Blue" or pair of vintage Levi's before you.

Bikes On Wheels

Rated this place:

309 Augusta Ave, Toronto, ON, M5T2M2

Bike store: So, I don't know jack about bikes. Does that mean I deserver a generous helping of "feeling like a douche" a la carte when somethings wrong with my bike and I don't know why? Coast into some convo with the nice people at Bikes On Wheels, who are happy to engage in primitive spoke speak and get you back on your seat again.

Ding Dong Pastries

Rated this place:

321 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, ON, M5T2E9

Chinese pastries

Chinese pastries: If a small #2 at Pho Hung is your ice cream sundae, you're in luck as your cherry-on-top is conveniently located directly across the street. Sticky rice balls with red bean are 3 to a dollar. Ding Dong the witch is fed? YESSSS!

Capsule Music

Rated this place:

921 Queen St W, Toronto, ON, M6J1G5

Vintage guitar shop: Beside housing the motherload of Torontos vintage guitars and amps, this shop also has a fine taste for what's new. Whether you eat '62 Strats for lunch, or are looking for quality introductory acoustic, Capsule has plently to look at.

Spectacle

Rated this place:

752 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON, M6J 1E9

Designer eyeware

Designer eyeware: Great staff hawking a great selection of new and vintage designer frames. Go on Sunday after church and have a complimentary mimosa, on me.

The Film Buff

Rated this place:

73 Roncesvalles Avenue, Toronto, ON, M6R 2K6

Video shop: First off, this place has the best ice cream in the world. Grab a kiddie cone and browse the rentables, heavy on classics and outsider goodness. I even scored an old VHS copy of Dario Argento's "Deep Red" from the clearance rack for $2 on my first visit.

Cossette Communications-Mktng

Rated this place:

502 King St W, Toronto, ON, M5V1L7

Echo: This groovy echo will transform any run-of-the-mill hand jive sesh into a polyrhythmic extravaganza. Clap your hands by the picnic bench located at the rear of the building.

Bakery On The Go

Rated this place:

Bathurst Station, Toronto

Patty: No one makes patty's like this. You could stuff brussel sprouts in these things and every freckled, bratty turd in single digits would be bowing down to the dark, leafy green.

  • Patty

Awenda Provincial Park

Rated this place:

Box 5004, Penetanguishene, ON, L9M 2G2

Summer daytrip: Somewhere so close, where you can feel so far. Oh yeah, and I saw fireflies and turtles. 'Nuff said...

Bungalow

Rated this place:

273 Augusta Avenue, Toronto, ON, M5T 2M1

Gourmet thrift shop

Gourmet thrift shop: If the thought of thrift shop diving for hours sends you running to Winners, why not skip straight to the gravy! You'll pay a premium, but it's worth it for Bungalow has a crap-filter second to none.

Communist's Daughter

Rated this place:

1149 Dundas West, Toronto, ON, M4M1S3

The Cheltenham Badlands

Rated this place:

1401-1999 Olde Baseline Rd, Cheltenham (near Caledon), ON

Day trip to mars: You don't see wrinkly, red earth like this every day. Located just an hour NW of the city, this will undoubtedly become a haven for "Total Recall" recreationists.

King Falafel

Rated this place:

875 Eglinton Ave W #17, York, ON, M6C3Z9

Falafel: A Forest Hill mainstay, run by a beautiful family. Fresh falafel, perfect shawarma and, oddly enough, amazing fries. Their secret ingredient, however, is a homemade hot sauce that makes your ears burn, in that special way.

  • favourite thing(s) at this place:
  • Falafel

Pho Hung Restaurant

Rated this place:

350 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON, M5T2G4

Pho: With so few ingredients, it's really easy to go wrong with a simple dish like Rare Beef Pho: the most basic noodle soup config available. This pimp bowl has Pho's in different area codes.

Cedarvale Ravine

Rated this place:

1611 Bathurst St. (Lonsdale Rd.), Toronto, ON

Bike trail: One of my favorite places to bike as a kid. Some serious hills, bridges and three spots were you can rest and listen to the subway run underground from Eglinton West to St. Clair West.
