Fur

Fur: These people make buying a coat so personal. Over the years they've been so accommodating and friendly. They sell top quality skins at very reasonable prices and they service what they sell.

St. Lawrence Market

Rated this place:

92 Front St E, Toronto, ON, M5E1C4

Bagels, Veal & eggplant sandwich

Bagels, Veal & eggplant sandwich: I love watching the baker put the raw bagels into the brick oven and what I like even more is eating a warm fresh bagel. I do wish this city would wake up and make Bialys as well. New York and the entire eastern seaboard makes them. You can find Bialys anywhere a good bagel is sold. Wake up Toronto, give us Bialys!

I enjoy the hustle bustle on a crowded day at the St. Lawrence Market. It's got an old world atmosphere I just love. Not to mention those veal sandwiches (downstairs) are absolutely the best I've ever had.

Mount Pleasant Cemetery

Rated this place:

375 Mount Pleasant Rd, Toronto, ON, M4T2V8

Leaves changing color

Leaves changing color: I love the awesome changing colors of Toronto in the fall. One of my all time faves and most magificent sites is at Mt. Pleasant Cemetary (between Bayview/Mt.Pleasant). So many colors all in one place. It's awesome and inspiring. This location is so different but equally beautiful throughout all the seasons. This is a great place to ride your bike through when the weather permits. Ther are great spots to sit and read or think. I love it!

Niagara Falls

Rated this place:

Niagara falls

Niagara falls: It's legendaryand historically a honeymoon haven. It's in the movies. I take every first time visitor to Niagara Falls for the awe and experience. As a young woman, my mother went to Niagara Falls and I had the thrill of taking her back a couple of years ago. You can see how she loved it and how happy it made her. The magical rainbow was the icing on the cake!

Yakamoz Grill

Rated this place:

373 Wilson Avenue, Toronto, ON, M3H 1T3

Falafel, Shawarma: Try them all and I bet you won't find any that are fresher or taste better than Yakamoz Felafel. Not only do they taste better but they're bigger! Ask for the works.... They're fried eggplant salad is to die for.

This shawarma is the biggest and juiciest I've ever eaten on the planet. The meat is fresh, there's a veggie option if you're not in the mood for meat. Whichever you choose be sure to have them include some of the fried eggplant. This is what I believe is the secret of this fabulous sandwich.

Albert's Real Jamaican Foods

Rated this place:

542 St Clair Ave W, Toronto, ON, M6C1A5

Roti restaurant: I really can't say enough about Albert's Real Jamaican. Not only is the roti delish but their ox tail stew is to die for. They carry all my favs including "Ting" which is a very refreshing grapefruit carbonated beverage. It's very authentic like every'ting' else they make. The place is small and not modern at all and sometimes very crowded. I love it.

Sea-Hi Famous Chinese Food

Rated this place:

3645 Bathurst St, North York, ON, M6A2E4

Chicken sticks: Most of their food is ordinary chinese, jus tthe same as you might get anywhere, however, the chicken sticks are unique. They've taken chunks of juicy chicken on skewers and wrapped bacon around. Then they're grilled to perfection, you're going to love this dish.

Eden Trattoria

Rated this place:

1331 St Clair Ave W, Toronto, ON, M6E1C2

Fettucini carbonara: I love this fettucini carbonara. I think it must have to do with the brand of bacon they use to make the sauce. It is a rich and scrumptious dish. If you order a veal scallopine to go with it you surely will have a satisfying and memorable meal.

Rated this place:

176 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON, M5C 2L7

Department store: Whatever you're looking for, it's there. The selection is broad and while I know you can get to the Bay in other locations, the downtown Bay is my fav.

Connections Bar & Grill

Rated this place:

1370 St Clair Avenue West, Toronto, ON, M6E 1C4

Grilled chicken: They use something magical in their marinade for this delicious chicken. It has a certain something that is succulent with a crispy skin. When you order they will ask what type of potato you want...be sure to take the sliced ones. I'm not sure if delicious is a good enough word to describe this one.

Eglinton Station

Rated this place:

2190 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON, M4S 2B8

Jamaican beef patty: I don't know the name of the shop but near right where you get on and off the buses there is a little bakery that sells these patties. The beef ones happen to be exceptionally good.

Mc Sorley's Saloon & Grill

Rated this place:

1544 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON, M4G3B6

Fried calamari, Sweet potato fries: Tasty with great dressing!

If you're into all things delicious you've got to try the sweet potato fries at McSorley's. It's rare enough, in Toronto, to find restaurants that even care enough about serving something healthy but here, at McSorley's they do it with passion. The fries are long and delish. Crispy on the outside, soft and yummy on the inside...they're served with a ranch dressing for dipping and I promise you, you'll be lickling your fingers.

Anton Restaurant

Rated this place:

6233 Bathurst St, North York, ON, M2R2A5

Eggplant salad: For some reason the eggplant salad at Anton's is outstanding. It might be the quality of the ingredients they use. The service and variety are great at this small and cozy eatery. It's a bit of a drive north on Bathurst but it's worth it. And try their Lamb Kabobs too. They're great!

Horseshoe Resort

Rated this place:

1101 Horseshoe Valley Rd, Barrie, ON, L4M4Y8

Skiing: Whether you're a novice or expert, Horseshoe is a great place to ski. It's easy to get to and within an hour of Toronto by car. They have reasonable lift and equipment rentals and a very friendly staff. The instructors are great and really take their time with you making you feel extremly confident and ready for the slopes. Getting started is the hard part...once you're out there on the snow...the rest is pure fun!

Romeo & Juliet Hair Studio

Rated this place:

1608 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON, M4G3B7

Manicures & pedicures: If you've never had Ami work on your hands or feet then you're missing out. Ami uses a clipper with confidence and the result is a thorough and meticulous manicure. C'mon ladies...you know a good manicure when you see one....this is it. On top of that the shop is friendly and full service. Linda and Marcie are experts at coloring, cutting, and styling too. Today I'd give the world class manicure/pedicure award to Ami. She's amazing.

Pickle Barrel Restaurant & Catering

Rated this place:

2300 Yonge St. (Yonge-Eglinton Centre), Toronto, ON, M4P1E4

Cabbage borscht, Cabbage soup: It's yummy and reminds me of a soup my grandma used to make. I do wish, however, they'd make it with a sugar substitute because I can taste the sugar in it and I'm trying to aviod sugar these days.

Their soup has that old world sweet & sour flavor. It is definitely a comfort food and leaves you feeling sated. To me, it's the best thing on their menu after the cole slaw.

Sheridan Nurseries Limited

Rated this place:

2827 Yonge, Toronto, ON, M4N2J4

Gardening store: This nursery has just about everything. In fact, they probably do have everything and certainly much more to chose from than most of the other small mom and pop shops. Their prices are little high but the quality and selection is there. It makes it a one stop shopping experience.

Shoe Company The

Rated this place:

267 Yonge, Toronto, ON, M5B1P4

Shoe stores: They have such a wide selection and they carry wide widths. If you need a wide shoe then you know how difficult it can be to find ones that fit and are fashionable. This is a good source for nice shoes.

Movie theatre: This theater is clean and conveniently located within walking distance of where I live. In addition there are so many other stores and restaurants located in the same place. I guess we just like what we get used to. I like this theater.

Tim Hortons

Rated this place:

16 Williams Kitchen St, Toronto, ON

Coffee shop, Good coffee: Self explanatory

I lived in Miami for most of my life. There we have Dunkin' Donuts. This is exactly like Tim Hortons and their coffee is equally as good. Tim Hortons does have the best cup of joe I've had in this great city in the last 6 years.

Womens Fitness Clubs of Canada

Rated this place:

1 Promenade Circle, Thornhill, ON, L4L 4P8

Gym: This full service gym is a great value. I used to belong to a 30 min workout place but they offered nothing other than their circuit. At Women's Fitness they offer all the expected like a gazillion treadmills and eliptical machines, a weight training room to match no other, classes of all sorts in a beautiful studio, showers, towels, shampoo, lotion, lockers, and even hair blowers are all there for your use. This gym gets my thumbs up for value.

Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto

Rated this place:

124 Edward Street, Toronto, ON, M5G 1G6

Dentist: I signed up years ago and I have to admit...I now love going to the dentist. The care is exceptional and the price is about 1/3 of what it would cost in a private office. Special kudos go to Helen the hygienist in the Periodontal School. I've never had my teeth cleaned like this before. If I had, I probably wouldn't have needed the dentist as much.
