Jerusalem Restaurant

Rated this place:

4775 Leslie Street, NORTH YORK, ON, M2H1T1

Mediterranean buffet: Incredible spread of food here, all you can eat falafels, unlimited hummus and tabouleh, they usually have an entire roasted lamb for you to carve. And on weekends they have a belly dancer come in to entertain.

Fortinos

Rated this place:

700 Lawrence Avenue West, Toronto, ON

Italian crusty buns: Real Italian, the buns are the best I've ever had on a consistant basis (I've had better, but when I go for more, the quality is not consistant). The outside of the bun is firm yet not tough, just the right amount of crustiness, while the inside is soft and almost moist. Great meat counter too if you need some cold cuts to put on your buns.

Sisters' Restaurant & Banquets

Rated this place:

4 Old Kingston Rd, Scarborough, ON, M1E3J5

Breakfast buffet, Sunday brunch: This is a rare find, a family run buffet restaurant, shame that the place is hidden away in Scarborough, but good that it's never too busy. Fantastic fresh spread of all kinds of breakfast foods, everything from Eggs Benedict to fresh made waffles, and since the buffet is not too big everything is constantly replenished, so whatever you get is good and fresh. If you ever make it out to that end of the city be sure and try it

$16.99 breakfast buffet includes enough meat to cure any hangover (bacon sausage, roast ham, roast beef, meatballs) And really friendly to boot

Bloor Cinema

Rated this place:

506 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M5S1Y3

Movie theatre: Great old style movie house, it's mostly second run stuff, but it's not some giant corporation. Great snack bar too

Square-Boy Drive-In

Rated this place:

875 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON, M4J1L8

Fries and gravy, Souvlaki: Burgers are pretty good, but what keeps me coming back is the gravy, just like one of the places you remember as a kid it's in a tin by the grill, and it's never changed, only added to.

Not as traditional as some of the places further west on the Danforth, but delicious anyway, with my favorite fries and gravy in the city on the side

Amato Pizza

Rated this place:

700 Lawrence Ave. W., North York, ON, M6A3B4

Slice of potato pizza: Be careful, if it's been sitting around a while it's nasty, but if it's fresh out of the oven it is a great taste.

Rancho Relaxo

Rated this place:

300 College St, Toronto, ON, M5T1R9

Authentic mexican food, Dessert, Guacamole, Mexican restaurant, Mexican restaurant: Great food, friendly service, and the only place in the city that uses real lime in their margaritas

The sopapilla is out of this world, they start with a mound of home made banana ice cream, then stick some deep fried pastries (the sopapillas) into it, and finish it off with a cinnamin dusting, and a drizzle of khalua.

Be sure and order the large, it's made fresh and serned in a big mortar and pestle

Always friendly service, the freshly smashed guac is a perfect way to start a meal, and the home made banana ice cream sopa pia is the best way to end one. Anything between those 2 courses will be perfect, just as every meal I've had there.

These guys make great food, very authentic too. Only place I've found that has a chili sauce tempered with chocolate (no you can't taste it) Quick friendly service, and very affordable. Be sure to save room for sopa pilas for dessert

Guild Inn Gardens

Rated this place:

201 Guildwood Parkway, Scarborough, ON, M1E 1P6

Park, Public garden

Park, Public garden: Such a hidden gem in the heart of Scarborough, I live nearby, so have taken the opportunity of walking through there about a million times. The grounds are like nothing I've ever seen. For years a group of artists lived in the Inn, while they were there, any time they noticed a beautiful building slated for demolition they would send a truck and rescue part of the building, so as you walk through, you will find massive pillars, beautiful archways, statues, all in the middle of a forrest.

The garden show in the summer is really nice
