Jean Talon Market

Rated this place:

7075 Casgrain Ave, Montreal, QC

Market

Market: This market offers a ton of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, breads, and other foods. It's a great place to go on a nice day and in my opinion is rivaled only by Granville Island in Vancouver.

O'Regans

Rated this place:

1224 Bishop, Montreal, Montreal, QC, H3G 2E3

Irish pub

Irish pub: This place makes this cut strictly because the house band on Friday and Saturday nights, The Shane Murphy Trio, is the best band in the city. Seeing them perform is truly one of the pleasures of living in Montreal. The beer selection is good here and the environment is cozy.

Labyrinthe

Rated this place:

486 Ste-Catherine West, Montreal, QC, H3B 1A6

T-shirts

T-shirts: It's the place to go for band tees, posters, and the like. Essentially, it's a basement stocked full of t-shirts, hoodies, bandanas, zippos, pipes, flasks, etc. If you go there it's practically a guarantee that the clerk serving you will have a facial piercing of some sort.

Bar Fly

Rated this place:

4062 St Laurent, Montreal, H2W 1Y8

173 Duluth East, Montreal, QC, H2W1H4

Omelette, Sandwiches

Omelette, Sandwiches: Along with a great chicken sandwich, Chez Jose also makes some of the best breakfast omelettes in the city.

The churrasco chicken sandwich is the way to go. Easily one of the best chicken sandwiches in the city. The place is really cool too. A small tiny restaurant that's staffed by very nice people.

Rated this place:

italmelodie

Rated this place:

274 Jean-Talon Est, Montreal, QC, H2R 1S7

Guitar shop

Guitar shop: Whereas most guitar shops are staffed by dour never-has-been pricks, Italmelodie actually has friendly staff. They also have a great selection of gear. Easily the best place to go for new musical equipment.

Deer Garden

Rated this place:

1162 St Laurent, Montreal, QC, H2X 2S5

Chinese food: In a city that doesn't have much great Asian food, Deer Garden offers pretty good value, though the dishes do tend to range in quality. Still, it's pretty good and is a bring your own wine resto as well.

Kanda Sushi

Rated this place:

2045 rue Bishop, Montreal, QC, H3G 2E8

Sushi

Sushi: Coming from Vancouver I can be a bit snobby about the quality (and price) of sushi in Montreal. That being said, Kanda is pretty good, and they have decent prices on all-you-can-eat. Still, I think the closer you get to Japan, the better the sushi.
