Maggie's All Day Breakfast

Rated this place:

174 Eglinton Ave W, Toronto, ON, M4R1A7

Breakfast: The best breakfast for under $10. Generous portions, always accompanied by fresh fruits, and garlic fries that will knock your socks off, not in a garlicky way though. It's like a giant breakfast nook!

Green Room

Rated this place:

296 Brunswick Ave, Toronto, ON, M5S2M7

Bar: This bar has LOADS of character, a great atmosphere and deliciously cheap eats. A great place to celebrate a birthday or just for casual weeknight drinks.

Agincourt Home Bakery

Rated this place:

3059 Pharmacy Ave, Scarborough, ON, M1W2H1

Veal sandwiches: I was skeptical that anything could compare to California's sandwiches, but was pleasantly surprised at this great family bakery. Their veal sandwiches have all the flavour, the only thing lacking is the crispiness of a freshly fried veal cutlet. In addition to sandwiches, they make fresh lasagnas, pizzas, sausage & peppers and tonnes of bakery items daily. Great lunch spot, or to take-out, they're hidden the corner of a strip plaza, so keep your eyes peeled.

Oyshi Sushi

Rated this place:

12 Queens Quay W #107, Toronto, ON, M5J2V7

Downtown sushi restaurant: It has been a personal quest to find half decent sushi in downtown Toronto. Bar the uberly expensive places, the only decent sushi i've found has been uptown in Markham or Richmond Hill. But Oyshi is the one exception. For one, the chefs and waitresses are Japanese *GASP* I know! Secondly, they don't offer an all-you-can-eat menu, so their quality is top-notch. The udon noodles get a special mention, they are perfectly cooked every time.

Swatow Restaurant

Rated this place:

309 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON, M5T2E6

Late night chinese food: Tried and tested many many times, this a personal fave of myself and all my party animal friends. The place isn't that big, so you'll probably have to wait for a table if you show up after 1am. But it's worth it, I recommend everything on the menu, the fried spicy squid is especially good after a night of drinking :D

King's Cafe

Rated this place:

192 Augusta Ave., Toronto, ON, M5T 2L6

Vegetarian restaurant: The food is delicious. Mostly Chinese offerings, some of the "meat replacements" will play tricks with your taste buds. Definitely a hidden gem in Kensington. My sister is the biggest carnivore, and this is her favourite veg restaurant in town!

Udupi Palace

Rated this place:

1460 Gerrard St. E., Toronto, ON, M4L2A3

Best indian food: For all South Indian vegetarian lovers, the paper masala dosas are huge, the sambar tastes pretty darn authentic. Very casual, lots of tables, it's one of the few restaurants on Gerard St. that doesn't disappoint!

California Sandwiches

Rated this place:

244 Claremont Street, Toronto, ON, M6J 2N2

Veal sandwiches: Tastiest veal sandwich by far. They give you gigantic pieces of veal, the sauce is delicious, and they make each and every sandwich fresh upon ordering. May take a while if you go at lunch, but it's worth it!

Pho 88 Vietnamese Restaurant

Rated this place:

270 Spadina Av, Toronto, ON, M5T2E5

Pho: Their soup is delicious. Their portions are generous. They give you sauce in those large squeeze bottles, like it should be. Their spring rolls are to die for. And it's "sister" Pho restaurant on Spadina, doesn't compare!

Guild Inn Gardens

Rated this place:

201 Guildwood Parkway, Scarborough, ON, M1E 1P6

Public garden: Because it's hidden behind the condemend Guildwood Inn, has beautiful stone statues and benches, is beautifully manicured and far enough from the road that the only sounds you hear are birds and insects!

The Red Room

Rated this place:

444 Spadina Ave., Toronto, ON, M5T 2G8

Cheap eats: I kid you not, breakfast for like $4 bucks! Also, cheap avocado salad, sandwiches, all kinds of good things, they always use fresh ingredients--which is what i'm always wary of when the food is cheap. You won't be disappointed!
