Proof Vodka Bar

Rated this place:

220 Bloor St. W (Intercontinental Hotel), Toronto, ON, M5S 1T8

Classy bar, Cosmopolitan, Sex on the beach: Located in the heart of Yorkville, this bar is elegant and cozy - the big couches in the lounge area are the perfect place to chill with a bellini after a long week.

All their drinks are a touch on the expensive side, but this is the best cosmo you'll ever have in your life!

It's just the best of all the SOTBs I've come across in my bar adventures.

Dunn's Famous

Rated this place:

284A King St. W., Toronto, ON, M5V1J2

Club sandwich: Located in the heart of the entertainment district, this pub style deli is warm, casual and comfortable. They serve the best club sandwich in the city: grilled chicken breast, avacado, and melted cheese on a sourdough loaf with loads of fresh fries...mmmm, tasty. The perfect place to go after a show at the Royal Alex or The Princess of Wales Theatre!

Sneaky Dee's

Rated this place:

431 College St, Toronto, ON, M5T1T1

Cheap eats, Nachos: Very casual to the point of feeling a bit dirty...but delicious burritos, amazing guacamole and very low prices. Excellent if you're a student looking for a quick meal or a night out.

Mmmmmm guacamole.

Rainforest Cafe

Rated this place:

3401 Dufferin Street (Yorkdale Shopping Centre), Toronto, ON, M3K1N2

Tacky restaurant: Great place to take kids - it's sooooo cheesy and the food is just average, but everyone will have a good time looking at the fish and watching the "animals" during the thunderstorm.

Second Cup

Rated this place:

1 University, Toronto, ON, M5J2P1

Latte, Pumpkin flavoured latte, Second cup location: A Canadian favourite and yuppie staple. They simply have the best hot beverages of all the chain cafes in the city, but for the price, each coffee should come with a condo. Mmmm, Vanilla Bean Latte and Caramel Corretto. The best way to waste my hard earned cash.

Perfect amount of pumpkin, coffee and spice...it's delicious!!

It's weirdly different from the other locations, with cozy Indian decorations, a decorative ceiling and comfy library style chairs. Why aren't they all this cute?

Real Thailand Restaurant

Rated this place:

350 Bloor St. W, Toronto, ON, M5S 1W9

Hot and sour soup, Lunch special, Pad thai, Thai food, Vegetables in green curry sauce: It's thick, delicious and full of flavour - this soup is a meal on it's own!

Best lunch on Bloor Street, and for under $9! You get an entree of your choice, 2 mini spring rolls, and either soup or salad. The whole thing is delicious and the service is fast and friendly. I love this place for lunch on the go, or dinner out with friends.

Huge portions of delicious Pad Thai. Mmmmm good.

This place is casual but clean and friendly, and the food is delicious! An $8 order gets you a ton of food and the service is very good. Try the #40 - thai friend rice with cashews, pineapple, chicken and shrimp - so good!

The best green curry in town!

Reverb

Rated this place:

651 Queen St. W., Toronto, ON, M5V 2B7

Dirty bar: While definitely not the classiest place in town, you can show up in jeans and runners fresh off the subway and not feel out of place. A good place to grab a drink and listen to live music when you're in the mood for a dive bar.

China House Restaurant-Tavern

Rated this place:

925 Eglinton Ave W, York, ON, M6C2C3

Chinese takeaway: It might take them a while to get to you (delivery took an hour last time!) but the food is worth the wait. China House has the best Beef and Broccoli in town - not soggy or mushy like some other places. A great place to order in your egg rolls and the like, and the service is very friendly.

G's Fine Foods

Rated this place:

351 Bloor St. W., Toronto, ON, M4W 1A7

24 hour convenience store: Located on Bloor at Huron, they have lots of dry foods, and an impressive selection of produce for a 24 hour corner store. They sell the best hummus in town and a decent selection of baked goods. Definitely not the place to do your weekly grocery shopping, but if you run out of milk/bread/chocolate at midnight, it's the place to go.

Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve Ltd.

Rated this place:

RR #1, Haliburton, ON, K0M 1S0

Fall retreat: The wolf centre is lame and fun at the same time, but the Walk in the Clouds adventure is an amazing way to challenge yourself and enjoy the view from high in the trees.

Thai Bamboo Inc

Rated this place:

2150 Steeles W, Concord, ON, L4K2Y7

Crab spring rolls, Pad thai: Available fresh or deep fried, these rolls are very tasty indeed. Served with a sweet and spicy sauce, they are great as an appetizer or small meal.

It's the perfect blend of spicy and flavourful, and the $8 portion is big enough to feed two. Even better, it's available with chicken , shrimp, or tofu for the veggies.
