Patio, Sandwich: Lovely, colourful and hidden away from the city streets, it's a perect hideaway for beers with friends or solo sandwiches and a book.

Brie and Avacado sandwiches, sweet patio, chill vibe, indie music, a full meal for under $5...what more could you ask for?

Phoenix Concert Theatre

Concert venue: Less intimate than places like Lee's Palace or the Mod Club, but an excellent place for live music and a few drinks. High ceilings and a balcony, but it could use a bigger bar area. Don't line up for hours for the main floor bathrooms - there are more hidden downstairs.

Movie theatre: It's a great little theatre in the heart of the best part of the city. The prices are great and there are lots of places to go for coffee/drinks nearby, from Irish pubs to Second Cup and Timmies.

Bloor Street Diner

Restaurant: The front section is as basic as a Timmies, but the cafe section and the formal dining room are really nice. The food is affordable and delicious, and they have an amazing dessert menu. Right below the Varisty cinema, it's a great place to get dinner or drinks.

Used bookstore: This amazing bookshop has the selection of chapters at garage sale prices, is open late, and is just all around fantastic. My favourite place in the city!

Cineplex Odeon Varsity and Varsity VIP

Movie theatre: Varsity is great for a few reasons. It's right above the Bloor Street Cafe, near public transit, in a great section of town and always has decent movies showing. A good date place as there are bars and cafes nearby to hit up after the movie.

The Mod Club

The mod club: The Mod Club is an awesome place for live music during the week but gets a little clubby on weekends. Small and intimate, it's a great place to hang out but a bit of a hike from the subway...the cuter your shoes are, the more your feet will hurt. Bring flip flops for the walk home!!
