Famous BBQ Express

Rated this place:

385 Queen St. W, Toronto, ON, M5A1T5

Lunch: It's tasty, quick, and cheap. And the staff is very friendly. Fav meals are Chicken Souvlaki and Bulgogi.

Cameron House

Rated this place:

408 Queen St W, Toronto, ON, M5V2A7

Live music venue

Live music venue: This "long-standing bastion of art and culture at Queen Street West" has some talented indie bands playing almost every evening; genres range from classic jazz to old-time country, from swing to celtic mariachi. The art-music-theatre-bar's unique and independent soul is evident through beautiful murals both on the walls and the ceiling. I hear October's got a decent line up of new bands. I'm definitely going back.

Bombay Bhel

Rated this place:

6415 Erin Mills Pkwy, Mississauga, ON, L5N4H4

Indian chaat: Authentic Indian chaat. Best I've had in Toronto. The 'Sev Puri' is particularly good. Bombay Bhel's also got a decent regular Indian menu, and their portions are astoundingly large. I ordered 'Achaari Kabab' with fries (delicious), and it was a meal fit for an ogre.

Green Onion Pan Asian cuisine

Rated this place:

112 Dundas Street West, Toronto, ON, M5G 1C3

Thai food: I rate the food 3.5/5 (compared to other Thai restaurants llike East, Salad King, etc. which I think are slightly better), but the most amazing thing about Green Onion is the service. I had dinner here tonight (busy) with six other people, and our soup, appetizers and entrees all arrived in under 10 minutes. If you're in the area and need to have a quick meal, this joint might be a good choice.

Saravanaa Bhavan

Rated this place:

153-1571 Sandhurst Circle, Mississauga, ON, M1V 1V2

Southern indian veggie cuisine: Having grown up in Chennai, India (home of the original Saravanaa Bhavan), I've been to several SB branches over the years. Still, I find it impossible to tell the difference between the food at the Canadian branches and that of the ones back home - it's as authentic as it can be. Don't leave without trying masaala dosa, idly and saambhar vada. If you're feeling adventurous try 'South Indian Thaali', which is a combination of around 20 different kinds of food in one plate.

Matahari Grill

Rated this place:

39 Baldwin St, Toronto, ON, M5T1L1

Casbah cashew chicken: Stirfry of chicken breast, peppers and nuts in a tangy tamarind - my all time favourite at Baldwin.

Politica Resto Bar

Rated this place:

127 Strachan Avenue, Toronto, ON, M6J2S7

Mediterranean restaurant: Nice, swanky restaurant in a quiet neighbourhood. A bit pricey, but worth it all the same. My favourites are the Crsipy Cornmeal Crusted Calamari and the grilled Atlantic Salmon (melts in your mouth). And of course, the Genoa Ricotta is the best pizza I've had in a long time.

360 Restaurant

Rated this place:

301 Front St W, Toronto, ON, M5V2T6

Belgian waffle: It's huge and soft, as are most other desserts at this restaurant.

New Lahore Tika

Rated this place:

1365 Gerrard St E, Toronto, ON, M4L1Z3

Pakistani cuisine: Heaven for meat lovers. Possibly the best Mughlai/Pakistani cuisine I've ever had. The seekh kabab, chicken tikka and butter chicken are unbeatable. Sure, the food's greasy, but it doesn't hurt to eat here once in a while. And while you're at it, try Kulfi for dessert.

Salad King Restaurant

Rated this place:

335 Yonge St, Toronto, ON, M5B1R7

Thai food: Best fried calamari ever. Quick and cordial service. Make sure you specify how spicy you want your food to be. Failure to do so might result in a meal that's as underspiced as Posh Spice's singing talents.

Korean Grill House

Rated this place:

214 Queen St. W., Toronto

Korean bbq: Good fun with a group of friends. Cooking gets a bit tedious, though; so have one of your nice friends do it for you. Watch out for the ludicrously loud 'gong' that is used to announce a patron's birthday.

Banu

Rated this place:

777 Queen Street W, Toronto, ON, M6J1G1

Persian restaurant: Very classy restaurant/bar/lounge. Koobideh Loghmegh (grilled, ground, gnashed, minced sirloin kabob wrapped in flat lavash bread!) and Doogh (carbonated yoghurt drink) stand out.

Quick Pita

Rated this place:

65 Duncan Street, Toronto, ON, M5V 2C5

Chicken shawarma: My biggest concern when deciding on a shawarma is this: how well is it wrapped? The last thing I want is humus and garlic paste on my clothes. Quick pita's shawarmas score well in this aspect. And the chicken is both soft and crispy.

Spring Rolls Restaurant

Rated this place:

693 Yonge St, Toronto, ON, M4Y2B2

Grilled teriyaki chicken breast: Can't get enough of this dish at spring rolls. The shiitake mushrooms add to the appeal.

Bamiyan Kabob

Rated this place:

62 Overlea Blvd, Toronto, ON, M4H1C4

Afghan restaurant: Authentic afghani food - the chaplee kabob is delicious, so is the half-chicken! It's a family-friendly restaurant, and what makes it special is that the food and service are consistent. That's what makes me go back to Bamiyan again and again.
