Soy-n-Joy

Rated this place:

664 Finch Avenue East, Toronto, ON, M2K 2E6

Ice cream: I agree...really cool creations - it's not as smooth as ice cream, but still pretty good, and for people trying to avoid diary, their soy ice cream is a great choice. So many flavours to choose from - I like the Lychee flavour the best thus far.

Showroom

Rated this place:

37 King St E, Toronto, ON, M5C1E9

Clothing boutique: I think the strengths of this store is the Great selection of jeans for both men's and women's, for brands like J Brand, Diesel, G-Star. Basically this store carries high end urban wear brands. Their wide selection of G-Star and Diesel should be noted for their men's wear, which sets them apart. I've also seen them carry real Ice Cream and Bathing Ape stuff here.

Utopia Cafe & Grill

Rated this place:

586 College St, Toronto, ON, M6G1B3

Sunday brunch: Great Brunch place, chic, on the College Street Strip. Best way to experience this place is Sunday for Brunch in the summer on the patio...because can then experience the laid back atmosphere that this place is all about.

Rated this place:

hokkai ya

Rated this place:

395 Bamburgh Circle, Scarborough, ON, M1W 3Y1

Sushi places: The best thing about this place is it serves Authentic Japanese Sushi made by Japanese owners. It's very small, can only sit about two tables, so it's more of a take-out place, but the sushi is more fresh than other places (they must know where to get the more fresh fish/get from best suppliers), so much so that you can taste the difference in freshness. The place is so authentic, it feels like they've welcomed you into their Japanese home and am serving dinner/lunch in their kitchen.

The Coop

Rated this place:

3287 Yonge St, Toronto, ON, M4N2L8

Men's clothing boutique: Tired of wearing the same looking ties as everyone else? Here, you can custom make your own ties, by picking from a wild variety of fabrics, and you can chose the tie width you want!! It's quite pricey, but it definitely guarantees you a unique one of a kind tie/neckwear

Ding Tai Fung Shanghai Dim Sum

Rated this place:

3235 Highway 7, Markham, ON, L3R3P3

Chinese restaurants: Great Chinese food - specifically cuisine unqiue to the Shanghai region in China. What's more unique about this place is that it's open kitchen (see through glass) so you can see as they hand prepare, from scratch, their delicious pork dumplings.

The School Fine Dining

Rated this place:

4121 14th Ave, Markham, ON, L3R0J2

Steakhouse: Steak house in a Historic Building in Markham. A great fine dining place for a special occasion and you don't want to go downtown. Also making this place more cool is that it's like the keg mansion downtown, but it's uniquely its own (not a chain). The food is great, high quality yet good deal compared to other pricey steakhouses downtown.

Studio Kim

Rated this place:

766 King St W, Toronto, ON, M5V1N6

Clothing alterations: She can alter anykind of clothing, perfectly, just the way you want it - great attention to detail. I've euro hemmed my jeans here, and also a waistcoat. I think so far, most of the people who's commented are ladies, but Kim is equally good at alterations for mens clothing!!

Balzac's Coffee Roastery

Rated this place:

55 Mill Street, Building #60, Toronto, ON, M5A3C4

Cafe: Because there's nothing like enjoying a premium cup of coffee/tea/latte in the Historic Distillery District. Don't let the closed dark painted metal door fool you - the coffee shop is open!! The organic coffee is great here, and is a great drink to sip on while you explore the different shops in the distillery district!!

Careful Hand Laundry & Dry Cleaners Limited

Rated this place:

195 Davenport Rd, Toronto, ON, M5R1J1

Dry cleaner: It's expensive, but when you have that piece of clothing that is dear and precise to you...better safe than sorry!! Careful Hand Laundry & Dry Cleaners are great in that they get your clothes clean and looking sharp without pressing it too much/washing it too much - thereby preserving the life of the clothing.

Simon Carter

Rated this place:

754 Queen West, Toronto, ON, M6J 1E9

Men's clothing boutique: The only Simon Carter Label Store in Toronto. British Designer I believe - Slightly above average prices for suits, cufflinks, tie bars/clips. The great thing about this store is you can get great, stylish pieces of clothing that you know others won't be wearing here. - also, the clothes give you that unique british fit.

Brick Street Bakery

Rated this place:

55 Mill Street, Toronto, ON, M5A 3C4

Bakery: Because their pies are awesome (especially their shepherds pie)!! When their meat pies are freshly baked, you can smell it everywhere in the Distillery District. Line ups pile up, everyone eager to get a slice!! I use to work near there & during lunch, my co- worker and I would go and get variety of pies to share for lunch they were that good !!

Jaipur Fine Indian Cuisine

Rated this place:

165 East Beaver Creek Rd, Richmond Hill, ON, L4B2N2

Indian restaurant: Because it's a great little place for a tasty Indian Lunch if you work near Hwy 7 and Leslie. It's a buffet and their butter chicken is awesome!! The variety/selection is ok but it's the quality of the food for a buffet style Indian restuarant that makes it stand out.

Dante's Italian Foods

Rated this place:

267 Bay Thorn Dr, Thornhill, ON, L3T3V8

Italian restaurants: Because it's good, hearty Italian food - whether take out or dine in - also perfect if you are hungry because of their huge portions. I've been there several times, and there's always a line up for take out, and always a line up to dine in (it's always packed) - which is a great indicator that the food is liked by many, since the decor/setting/location is nothing special. The main thing I find that seperates them from the big chain/franchised italian restaurants is their gourmet pasta sauces.

Epicure Cafe

Rated this place:

502 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON, M5V2B3

Cafe: Because it's a cosy, comfortable cafe that has a great menu, from sandwiches to pastas, to salmon salads, and has a good brunch menu. - each dish is a classic but made with a distinct twist slightly unique to this place. - which exemplifies the reason to go to such places to dine, as oppose to big chain places. Menu is Italian influenced. Last note - If you're looking for a quite place to sit with your group of friends, their 2nd floor is perfect.

Tealish

Rated this place:

198 Walnut Ave, Toronto, ON, M6J2N6

Tea shop: Because they have over 130 different kinds of loose leaf tea to choose from. This place is truly great for the tea lovers in Toronto!! If that's you, you gotta check this place out. Extremely high quality and fresh tea. They also sell tea leaves in larger quantities for serving at home and teaware. Also great for if you're strolling along queen street west looking at the shops and in need of something good to drink!!

Wagamama

Rated this place:

766 King St W, Toronto, ON, M5V1N6

Cafe: A local secret gem for pastries, sandwiches, and coffee. Often packed by the locals who live near by b/c its so good. Why so good? - It's a cafe serving high quality imported coffees, teas, pastries and gourmet sandwiches with fresh homemade bread. The sandwiches are only about 5 dollars and are huge - a hard find in the downtown area!! The atmosphere/setting is also nice - makes you feel like you're having a great cup of coffee/latte/tea & pastries in the comforts of your own living roo

Getoutside

Rated this place:

437 Queen Street West, Toronto, Toronto, ON, 416-593-5598

Favorite sneaker store: Great selection of kicks such as special edition /unique colourways chuck taylor converse all stars, tsubos, etc. This uptown location makes it a lot more convenient for people who live uptown that are into these kind of more unique sneakers.

Owl of Minerva

Rated this place:

5324 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON, M2N6M2

Korean food: Open 24 hours!! - Hence, the nite owl I think... This is truly the main draw of this place. Just finish clubbing at 3am and feel like Korean food? Live uptown and don't want to stay downtown to eat? No Problem - the Owl is open!! The food tastes ok, place is similiar to what other Korean restaurants charge I think.

adidas originals store

Rated this place:

389 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON, M5V 2A5

Favorite sneaker store: Because often, those stylish adidas kicks you want just aren't sold at the big chain sneaker stores... You'll find them here!! Also this store often carries some great looking adidas fashion apparel (not the performance stuff, but the fashion apparel that actually looks hip).

China Doll

Rated this place:

587 College Street, Toronto, ON, M6G 1B2

Bar: A cool bar/lounge on the College Street Strip. My friend had his birthday here & it was great. The place is not too big & the music wasn't too loud, which created a good comfortable atmosphere for friends to chat and catch up. There was also a dance floor area. coolest thing about this place was there were big chalk board walls where u can write on the walls - the drunken birthday boy had the time of his life with this, creatin for some great memorable photos.

empire court

Rated this place:

8500 Warden Avenue, Markham, ON, L6G1A5

Chinese restaurants: Whether dim sum or dinner, definitely one of the top 3 Authentic Chinese Restaurants in the Greater Toronto Area . Luxurious decor, inside the elegant Hilton Suites Hotel (formerly called Embassy Suites). I've been there many times and the reowned Chef even comes out to ask you if you like his creations. My parents are very picky about their Chinese food - this is one of the only restuarants they compliment.

Rasoee The Indian Kitchen

Rated this place:

140 Spadina Ave. Suite 101, Toronto, ON, M5V 2L4

Indian restaurant: There's not that many fast food indian food places uptown - so this is really what makes this place great. The food is pretty decent, so if you are in the hwy 7 and kennedy area and feel like Indian food but pressed for time, this place is awesome.
