Gino's Pizza

Rated this place:

1131 Nottinghill Gate, Oakville, ON, L6M1K5

Pizza delivery: Nice crunchy crust. Lots of mozzarella cheese, you know, the kind that tastes even better with more flavour the next day when it's cold. I got the Hawaiian a lot.

The 561 Dining On Avenue

Rated this place:

561 Avenue Rd, Toronto, ON, M4V2J8

Mouthwatering steak: A weird name for a restaurant tucked away beneath an apartment building, but the food is phenomenal. I was there for a staff party and the salads, entrees and desserts were all perfectly prepared. The fusion of flavours was memorable. The steak in particular was like biting into a piece of orgasm. I worked with a bunch of (questionably) thin females and even they were wolfing down the food. The decoration was a little cheesy: fake ivy plants, Renaissance- like statues and Grecian columns.

Hey Lucy Cafe

Rated this place:

295 King St W, Toronto, ON, M5V1J5

Martini: The place is really narrow and has construction all outside, but the selection of martinis is extensive. So many to choose from. Lots of sweeter martinis for people who dont like to taste the alcohol (which I do), so definitely a good place for novice martini drinkers. Try to get a zebra-print booth in the front so you aren't crammed into the side or back area.

Pat & Mario's Restaurant

Rated this place:

925 Dixon Rd, Etobicoke, ON, M9W1J8

Italian restaurant: I'm a pasta primavera nut, and although this pasta isn't fresh and comes out of a bag the ingredients and sauce make it delicious enough that I randomly crave it. If you're staying around the airport and stuck for places to eat I would definitely check this place out. I think it had its "hay day" in the 80's and kind of fell off after that, but the wood fire oven and fresh baked pizzas have kept it going this long.

Rosa's Place

Rated this place:

2201 Finch Ave W, North York, ON, M9M2Y9

Italian restaurant: Two words: Fusilli Primavera UNGH! Soooooo awesome. I love Rosa. And her place, but mostly her pasta. Penne alla Vodka is right up there too. My tastebuds couldn't believe what they were getting to experience.

Albert's Real Jamaican Foods

Rated this place:

542 St Clair Ave W, Toronto, ON, M6C1A5

Spicy beef patties: Close to where I live (Bathurst/St. Clair), fast service, tasty food. Sometimes not as spicy as I'd like though. Good selection of Carribean soft drinks. Once in a while new flyers for good reggae parties.

Over Easy

Rated this place:

208 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M5S3B4

Breakfast place: I know; how original. At least I didn't say Fran's. The only time I could be bothered to go out for breakfast is if Im doing something afterwards, so this place is a close walk to the ROM and cute shops along Bloor (Piya's Boutique!). I hate eggs and breakfast food in general, but the place is so chipper and homey. Good home fries and BLTs (without the bacon for me and a slice of cheddar instead). Really good caesars and mimosas.

Piya's Boutique

Rated this place:

499 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M5S1Y2

Eastern knick knacks: A really cute boutique located between Spadina and St.George on Bloor. They have tons of pretty scarves, unique picture frames, incense holders, Hindi statues, wall hangings etc. You can bargain the prices down too. Lots of things to accessorize your home.

By The Way Cafe

Rated this place:

400 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M5S1X5

Middle eastern food: Lots of Australian and Californian wines from which to choose. Super cheap prices. I ordered a combination plate with lamb, Hummus, Babagough, Tabuleh, Israeli salad & amazing tasting falafels for $13! Just make sure if you go with your uncultured, meat-and-potato loving father that you don't let him order and mispronounce all the menu items. Gah! The restaurant is not much to look at nor is the patio but the prices and tastes make up for it!

City Of Angels

Rated this place:

88 Orfus Rd, North York, ON, M6A1L9

Cute tops: At first glance this store looks like a place for tacky bar sluts, but if you go in and look they do have some good brands and styles. Lots of sales as well. I dropped $98 and got 3 nice shirts. It has casual clothes and dressier clothes, as well as hand bags and jackets.

Milestone's Grill & Bar

Rated this place:

132 John St., Toronto, ON, M9N1J8

Bellini: The bellini (with an extra shot of Raspberry Stoli) at Milestone's is so refreshing on a summer day. A good blend of sweet with a kick from the sangria and vodka. You can hang out on the John St. patio and order order some popcorn shrimp. Prime location and perfect place to bring the ladies for some cocktails.

Mashu Mashu Mediterranean Grill

Rated this place:

387 Spadina Road, Toronto, ON, M5P 2W1

Mediterranean restaurant: The Mashu Mashu salad is the best ever, perfectly dressed with juicy, little cherry tomatoes. The place does a great job with catering large parties too. The location is kind of small but worth the squeeze because the food is something that you eat and want more of the next day. Everyone in the neighbourhood frequents the place so make a reservation on a Thurs-Sun night.

Spoof

Rated this place:

350 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON, M5V 2A2

Shirts: You can find tons of sales at Spoof. Actually I don't think anything is ever full price. $20 will get you one of the nicer shirts. The simple designs definitely need to be dressed up with earrings or a necklace, but the material is flattering (all the same for each shirt) and comes in great colours. Don't put it in the washing machine though! Good for date clothes to make you look effortlessly adorable and stylish. They sell nice earrings too.

Easy Restaurant & Catering Co

Rated this place:

1645 Queen St W, Toronto, ON, M6R1A9

Mango smoothies: I hate this end of town. The restaurant, which seats like 20 ppl tops, was packed full of hipster douches who kept their sunglasses on while eating. The waitress was a total bitch. I asked for a slight variation on my order and by her reaction you'd think I asked for her first born child. BUT, was worth it all once I put my lips around the straw and sucked back that thick, sweet mango smoothie! If you get a screwdriver there in the AM make sure you tell her to put it in a short glass.

House Of Gourmet

Rated this place:

484 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON, M5T1G9

Chinese food: Very low-key and casual. The jasmine tea they serve is the best thing to help digest all the food. My fave is the Szechuan beef & brocoli and Kung Pao Ming Har. Cheap Heinenkens too! If you stumble in late at night, you can order "cold tea".

Pappas Grill

Rated this place:

440 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON, M4K1P4

Greek food: Heavy on the carbs with all the rice and potatoes but hey it's Greek! Decent salad, but really tender and finely-flavoured lamb. Shots of Ouzo are fun after the meal. Nice side-walk patio, although sometimes inhaling car fumes and being harassed by bums isn't appetizing, so indoors is a good option too.

Big Daddy's Crab Shack

Rated this place:

212 King St W, Toronto, ON, M5H1K5

Sea scallops: Try the blackened fresh sea scallops that come with portobello mushrooms& saffron cream sauce. So good with a carafe of cold, crsipy pinot grigio! Not to mention the super- stiff Hurricane drinks they serve there! Or if you want to gain 2 lbs in 15 minutes, try the fried sea food pan: cornmeal dusted catfish, gator, calamari and coconut shrimp with really rich, complementary dipping sauces. Fun New Orleans themed decor and rag time esque music.

Armadillo Texas Grill

Rated this place:

146 Front St W, Toronto, ON, M5J1G2

Sports bar: You can watch any sport that's on, it's loud, filled with married men and happy sports lovers. The space is big and open with lots of TVs. With all the Christmas lights, it's a warm, inviting space to sip back their jumbo Margueritas after you've just watched a Jays game at the Dome. Or to drink a pitcher while you watch a Leafs game.

Folino Hair Salon

Rated this place:

3401 Dufferin Street, Toronto, ON, M6A 2T9

Hair stylist: Matilda @Folino Hair Salon. She is very sweet and unpretentious with a totally wacky sense of style. She hears what you want and does it accordingly making minor adjustments based on skin tone and face shape. You don't have to worry about tipping 3 different people because she washes, colours and shapes the hair.

Hernando's Hideaway

Rated this place:

52A Wellington Street East, Toronto, ON, M5E 1C7

Tequila: A great selection of tequila, kitschy Mexican decor and charming waiters who do shots with you. The one @ Yonge/ Wellesley is the location I'm talking about. I haven't tried the food but I've heard only good things.

Pickle Barrel Restaurant & Catering

Rated this place:

2300 Yonge St. (Yonge-Eglinton Centre), Toronto, ON, M4P1E4

Seafood pasta: The sauce is so creamy and flavourful, the seafood is fresh, the pasta's always cooked just right and the wine selection is really decent. The atmosphere is really relaxing at the Yonge/Eglinton location and it's a good pre or post-movie place to eat. The Yonge/Dundas location is kind of cramped up top but the lower level is nice and I love the seating.

Ginger Two-CLOSED

Rated this place:

403 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON, M5B1S9

Inexpensive curry: Cheap beer ($2.75 a can), lots of combos to choose from, extremely well-priced, great curry, diner-like set up with a good view of Yonge Street. Casual and low key, which if you've read my previous faves you know I love, plus I didnt have an upset stomach after eating it! Miraculous.

Kay Gardner trails

Rated this place:

Bathurst St and Eglinton Ave, Toronto, ON

Jogging trail: These are the only secluded trails I can run on and not feel like some crazy rapist is going to pop out of the bushes. Well maintained, feels foresty but is still close to roads and streets.

Trinity Bellwoods Park

Rated this place:

1053 Dundas St. W., Toronto, ON, M5H2N2

Park: Whether you're chilling on a blanket with a spliff, tossing a frisbee or strolling with a cute date, this park can accomodate all of those activities. There are always festivals and events going on too. The best part is there are no big, stinky, loud dogs running around because there's a separate dog park area.
