The place looks better empty, no really...: So a friend and I went there one night to check the place out. It was around midnight and the place was empty, we hung around for a while, but I didn't seem to pick up.
Since it's close to where I live I thought I'd give this club another shot, make it a sort of Fri night hangout, so I checked them out on facebook. It seems that the management prefers to keep the place empty, as in regards to participating in NXNE they state:
"Not going to participate in NXNE this year... Everyone keeps asking why we are not participating as a venue at NXNE this year. Frankly, the thought of having some random band and a roomful of sweaty industrial-goth-rockers just wasn't appealing..."
I'm nothing near a punk-industrial-goth chick, or whatever, but NXNE is a great festival that supports a lot of Canadian talent and brings arts and culture to the city. Stating the above is just a big slap in the face to Canadian musicians, artists and everyone involved in NXNE.
That's a great attitude to have when your club is in the middle of the most alternative of Toronto's arty districts. Go back to Bay St., Nocturd, Queen St. is for people that still have a soul.
