Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu

Rated this place:

5445 Yonge St., North York, ON, M2N6K7

Korean food: The food is fantastic. Although the selection is limited, what they do offer is an awesome soon tofu dish and dol sot bi bim bap (the only korean restaurant my mom approves of, and yes, i am korean).

Me Va Me

Rated this place:

330 Steeles Ave. West, Thornhill, ON, L4J 7L1

Middle eastern restaurant: The kebobs that are served are succulent cuts of meat that are accompanied by mild-tasting rice and potatoes. I urge everyone to try their Baba ghanoush appetizer that is the best in town. They also have a patio open in the summer but be forewarned about lineups as they can be very long.

Barberian's Steak House

Rated this place:

7 Elm St, Toronto, ON, M5G1H1

Steakhouse: The steak is aged, seasoned, and prepared perfectly. Set in an 1860 home, it definitely has an antique-feel to it that feels more like one's dining room than a restaurant. An award-winning wine list and helpful service makes it a wonderful experience.

LCBO

Rated this place:

446 Summerhill Av, Toronto, ON, M4W2E4

Lcbo: This place is a candy store for adults. Their selection in everything but beer is endless. If you're a fellow scotch drinker, you'll appreciate the numerous types. I get excited when I come here.

Aroma Espresso Bar

Rated this place:

500 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON, M5S1Y3

Coffee shop: The coffee is a perfect blend, the bakery always stirs aromas of goodness, and the people are friendly.

Rosie Robin A Touch of Convenience

Rated this place:

616 Gladstone Ave, Toronto, ON, M6H 3J2

Alternative restaurant experience: I visited this joint in the summer for brunch because I had heard the cook worked in a few reputable kitchens in Toronto as a sous-chef. The food is delightful and the setup is interesting, the cook serves, cooks, and possibly cleans the petit eatery. As well, Rosa is a sweet woman and very friendly.

European Quality Meats

Rated this place:

16 Jutland Rd, Etobicoke, ON, M8Z2G9

Butcher shop: The meats are fresh and priced very reasonably. Have you tried a burger from this place? If not, then you've been missing out. Try it, now.

Hemingway's Restaurant

Rated this place:

142 Cumberland St, Toronto, ON, M5R1A8

Patio: Great place to grab a drink after spending the day in Yorkville. Their patio in the summer is the clincher.

Swatow Restaurant

Rated this place:

309 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON, M5T2E6

After-club restaurant: As the clubs begin to close their doors, the lines grow at the doors of the Chinese restaurants along Spadina. But there's only place worthy of waiting: Swatow. The food is delicious that just hits the spot for that booze-filled stomach.

Buddha's Vegetarian Foods

Rated this place:

666 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON, M5T1H9

Cheap vegetarian meal: I'm not a vegetarian, in fact I'm a huge carnivorous beast, but this place used to be my favourte restaurant for quite some time. It's a different type of Chinese cuisine than the shops along Spadina, but it's infinitely better. It doesn't attempt to present any type of atmosphere except for somewhere you can eat. But you come for the food and stay for the food and get conquered by the food.

Harvey's Restaurants

Rated this place:

15 Westney Rd N, Ajax, ON

Pickles: I love Harvey's burgers, I love the grill-ness that makes them different than the other joints. But what really puts them over the top is their pickles. I always ask for 6 of them cuz they rock my socks.

Cineplex Odeon Varsity and Varsity VIP

Rated this place:

55 Bloor St. W (Manulife Centre), Toronto, ON, M4W 1A5

Movie theatre: It's not like those gigantic mega-plexes that seem to draw high-schoolers who have nothing better to do than block the doorways.

Metro Bar

Rated this place:

296 Richmond St. W., Toronto, ON, M5V 1X2

Dance club: On a Friday night, there's nothing hotter than this pad. Although lineups are terrible and staff unfriendly, once you get in it's hot. The main room spins house hits for most of the night and the party is pumped.

Madison Avenue Pub

Rated this place:

14 Madison Ave, Toronto, ON, M5R2S1

Pub: Great place for a relaxed night in the summer. Remember half-priced appetizers during happy hour (which really should be every hour; at least in my case).

Green Room

Rated this place:

296 Brunswick Ave, Toronto, ON, M5S2M7

Student hangout: Cheap eats in a location that very much fits in the Annex is the Green Room. Two floors that are dimly lit that create a casual atmosphere for a night out.

Salad King Restaurant

Rated this place:

335 Yonge St, Toronto, ON, M5B1R7

Pad thai: The previous poster who wrote "It doesn't taste like ketchup" is very correct. It doesn't, and the pad thai tastes fabulous. You can vary the intensity of spicy by their pepper factor (from 1-20). I highly suggest the 20 if you want to experience serious indigestion for the next week. I speak from experience.

Sonic Boom

Rated this place:

512 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M5S1Y3

Music store: Hearing the clickkity clackkity just defines this store. Enormous selection at reasonable prices. They recently opened a basement floor where they store their records.

Steam Whistle Brewing

Rated this place:

255 Bremner Blvd, Toronto, ON, M5V3M9

Place to get free beer any day: Man, the free beer is something you can't beat. Go in for 'samples' and get loaded, or at least die trying.

Yellow Griffin Pub

Rated this place:

2202 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M6S1N4

Fries: Some will find this a weird place for fave fries since it specializes in burgers, but do not let the accompaniment fool you. On my first visit, I finished the fries before I touched the burger.

  • fries

Rated this place:

Tim Hortons

Rated this place:

16 Williams Kitchen St, Toronto, ON

Place to crash when you've got nowhere to go and are too drunk to care: It's opened 24/7 at some locations which is perfect for making a corner your bed for the night.

Lee

Rated this place:

603 King St. W., Toronto, ON, M5V1E1

Restaurant: The best food in Toronto. The tasting menu is a must for first-time goers, you won't be disappointed. However, the ambience leaves something to desired and the service is notoriously terrible. But if you want the best food in town, this is the spot.
