Buy Dad a T-Shirt

For some reason, when I was a kid it was our family tradition to buy our dad Soap On a Rope EVERY YEAR for Father's Day. We've started a waaay better tradition for my husband. My kids get him a t-shirt from Hardboiled in Kensington every year. Hardboiled works with hot young designers and sells really fresh, cool shirts. The staff and owner are very lovely and they will print any design on a t-shirt colour and style of your choosing. So my kids get to play mini-designer. Inevitably, I wind up buying my kids the same design that they pick out for their dad so they can charm or nauseate our friends and relatives by wearing their matching t-s. I confess, I think it's cute and makes for a nice Father's Day picture. Plus, for some reason my husband will not buy himself t-shirts so the gift is functional.

This local company works with a collection of artists to create fun and interesting T-shirt designs. I have purchased a few of their shirts at The Clothing Show and I love them -- stylish, great fit and ultra comfortable. The store in Kensington carries an even bigger variety. If you're looking for something custom made, like T-shirts for your band, they can do small and large orders. They also sell bamboo T-shirts and also use eco-friendly ink. Styles and sizes for men and women are available, as well as kids and onesies for babies.

I love the fun designs. apparantly they solicit lots of different designers to come up with the art for their products. i like the cuts of the shirts as well, and how they usually mirror the front design in some small eye-catching detail on the back. very cool. You can find them all over the city at various collectives and boutiques.
