The best coffee shops also sell ice cream. White Squirrel is a tiny cafe but they serve excellent organic coffee, baked treats and Greg's homemade ice cream. Conveniently located right across the street from Trinity Bellwoods Park, I can see this place getting very busy come summer. The coffee shop is not at all pretentious (despite the fact it's on the West Queen West strip) and the staff is very friendly. I live nearby so it's a new spot to grab a morning coffee. It's also a good choice for eco-friendly individuals because the cafe supports environmentally conscious suppliers.

The White Squirrel is a new coffee shop smack across the street from Trinity Bellwoods park. They serve good coffee and snacks as well as Greg's ice cream which will be life changing when we are hanging out at T-Bell in the summer. White Squirrel has a huge plate glass storefront and you get a panoramic view of the park. My husband takes my son Sam and his friend Tejas there every Saturday after their music class. It's a ritual. The boys have hot chocolate and ice cream and the dads have coffee and everyone chills out for a bit. The space is really bright and open and the proprietor's own kids are often underfoot so no need to feel bad if yours join the fray.
