A bookstore for all seasons
Rated this place:
It's basically impossible for me to walk by this stretch of Queen without popping into Pages, either to check out some newly released fiction or browse in some of my favourite sections making mental lists of things that I'll buy in the future. The selection is smart and varied, and it's as easy to discover a gem you never knew about as it is to find an obscure old favourite. Staff tend to be quite knowledgeable and good at recommending stuff if you're gift shopping and in a bind. It will be a real shame when this Queen Street institution either closes or moves, as has been rumored for a while now.
On top of being a great bookstore, the Pages-organized "This is Not a Reading Series" is a great way to get more involved in the local literary scene.
