HTO

Rated this place:

339 Queen's Quay West, Toronto, ON, M5V1A2

Beach

Beach: This is a cute lil man-made beachy area along the harbourfront which is a nice spot to take a break from your walk/bike ride/rollerblading to sit and relax in one of the muskoka chairs for a few minutes and look out over the lake to the islands. It was strangely not even very busy when I was there on a Saturday.

La Hacienda Restaurant

Rated this place:

640 Queen St W, Toronto, ON, M6J1E4

Lemonade, Mexican restaurant

Lemonade, Mexican restaurant: They have freshly-made lemonade and bring you a sugar dispenser so you can sweeten it yourself. Lemonade goes perfectly with Mexican food, and they have a nice back patio for hanging out on a summer afternoon.

Laid back atmosphere with good music and awesome mexican food. They have the most insane hot sauce ever, which I can't eat, it's so hot. In the summer, they have homemade lemonade which goes perfectly with mexican food. Nice little back patio, too.

Don Valley Park

Rated this place:

Toronto, M4G3A1

Place to cycle: You can cycle all the way from the lakeshore up to Sunnybrook Park, or take a side trip east through peaceful Taylor Creek Park. The trail is wide, there are a few good hills, and the trees are thick enough that most of the time you can't even tell that the traffic on the Don Valley Parkway is metres away.

Fresh & Wild

Rated this place:

69 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, ON

Gourmet to go, Grocery store: It's a convenient place to drop in on the way home and pick up prepared salads, roasted chicken, etc for those nights when you just don't feel like cooking. also pick up some groceries for those nights when you DO feel like cooking.

Amazing selection of gourmet groceries. Not for the indecisive - you will spend ages trying to choose what kind of olive oil to buy! Kinda light on the cheeses, though.

Trinity Bellwoods Park

Rated this place:

1053 Dundas St. W., Toronto, ON, M5H2N2

Park

Park: It's a nice, big park with lots of interesting people - the tennis players, the frisbee players, the dog people and the lay-around-with-the-paper people. I like to watch the dogs play in the off-leash area...all the fun of having a dog with none of the hassle. Lots of yummy food options around there, too. Perfect for an afternoon stroll/picnic.

Stem Open Kitchen

Rated this place:

354 Queen St W, Toronto, ON, M5V2A2

Diner: It's such a classic, greasy spoon diner. The only place that does my eggs exactly the way I like them - yolks hard at the edges, but soft in the middle. For a real treat, sit at the counter and watch the two cooks make everyone's breakfast, keeping all the orders straigtht in their heads. These guys are pros.

SOMA Chocolatemaker

Rated this place:

55 Mill St. (Building #47), Toronto, Ontario, M5A3C4

Chocolate shop, Gelato, Hot chocolate

Chocolate shop, Gelato, Hot chocolate: This shop makes everything on-site and you can see the whole process through glass windows. Amazing truffles and packaged chocolate (milk and dark), chocolate-covered nuts, handmade toffee and gelato. I challenge anyone to visit this shop and NOT buy anything.

Dark Venezualan chocolate gelato...mmm.

They have something called a Mayan Hot Chocolate Shot, which is an intensely-flavoured shot of warm, melted chocolate in a small glass with a tiny handle. Very strong - I could almost feel the chocolate coursing through my veins.
