Natrel Rink at Harbourfront

Outdoor skating rink: It's the best rink in the city, tucked away by the lake. It's a great place to spend a cold January afternoon, working off the pounds after the holidays are over and you're bored and looking for something fun to do.

Brunch: Cuz of the great dishes (eggs benny is always a good choice) and the cool toasters signed by celebrities. Check out the very cool chandelier -- can't really miss it actually. It has a shoe attached to it. Bizzzaaarre.

Honey dealer: The guy who runs it dishes out honey samples at lightning speed and lets you try every variety of honey known to man. When you finally buy some and leave the stand, you'll have a sugar buzz that lasts all day.

Bagel shop: When I'm at the St. Lawrence Market, I always like to pick up fresh bagels at St. Urbain and then freeze them so I can take them out and eat them whenever I want. Love the sesame and poppy seed variety.

Vietnamese sub: Dieu Ky is but one of the great Vietnamese shops on Spadina offering buck-fifty subs made with meats or veggies. My fave is always the spicy vegetarian sub. And, you’ll be in and out in less than two minutes.

Po' boy sandwich: Stuffed with fresh shrimp and lightly breaded in seasoned cornmeal and served on French bread with remoulade, tomatoes and lettuce, this is a great sandwich. The southern-style hospitality of owners Glenn and Karen Cosburn is also reason enough to drop in when in Leslieville.

Pot pie: Far Niente’s signature plate could be the most succulent in the city. Chef Gordon Mackie’s creation is filled with chunks of lobster, carrots, peas, mushrooms, leeks, asparagus and fingerling potatoes. Breathe it in, but be careful when you do -- it’s one hot dish.
