Moksha Yoga

Rated this place:

372A Danforth Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, M4K 1N8

Moksha Yoga

Moksha Yoga: When my muscles feel tight and I feel stressed, I head out to Moksha Yoga for some hot yoga to help me relieve stress, relax my mind, and to detoxify, tone and strengthen my muscles. I like doing hot yoga because I love the glowing feeling I have after the class. Also it makes me feel more flexible and of course the added benefit of helping my body to detoxify. I also like supporting Moksha because every Friday they hold a karma-class-charity-donation program which gives back to the community.

Big Carrot Natural Food Market

Rated this place:

348 Danforth Ave #209, Toronto, ON, M4K1N8

The Big Carrot

The Big Carrot: The Big Carrot is a great place to do your organic and natural food shopping. They only sell non-GMO products so I feel confident buying organic or conventional groceries there. It is apart of Carrot Common, a friendly neighborhood area with a healthy vibe! Located on the Danforth, close to many other shops and restaurants, as well as being just a 2-minute walk from Chester subway station. It can be a one-stop shop for all your needs: supplements, natural and organic meats, organic and local produce, and natural health and beauty products as well as a vegetarian deli. They have a juice bar selling juices, smoothies, coffee, sandwiches and salads. Stop in for a quick lunch or dinner when you don’t have time to cook. Super dishes that you wouldn’t make at home like seaweed salads!

Host Fine Indian Cuisine

Rated this place:

14 Prince Arthur Ave., Toronto, ON, M5R1A9

The Host: The Host is probably my favorite Indian restaurants in the city! I have never been disappointed. The servers are extremely polite, friendly and patient (this helps when you are with a big group!) and the food is absolutely delicious! Start off with the Mila Zula platter! Some of my favorites include the garlic nan, Tandoori Murg, Murg Mirch Tikka, aloo gobhi, khumani steak, chana masala….I could just keep going on and on…I l think I pretty much love everything at The Host! And don’t shy away of taking the kids with you. They love the popadoms and butter chicken is usually a hit with all!

Whole Foods Market

Rated this place:

87 Avenue Rd., Toronto, ON, M5R3R9

A dose of healthy eating

A dose of healthy eating: One of the best natural supermarkets in Toronto. They have a fresh meat bar, fish bar, freshly prepared foods, skincare boutique and bakery. The staff has all the answers to your questions about safe fish, meat and other products. You can find everything that you need to support your organic and natural lifestyle. They also have a classroom with all sorts of health interest classes (including Sprout Right’s workshops!). Free parking for 90 minutes makes it easy to do your shopping while being in the centre of the city. Be careful though, prices are more expensive than some local shops… your bill at checkout may not be so healthy!

The Healthy Butcher

Rated this place:

565 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON, M5V2B6

For the meat-lovers...

For the meat-lovers...: I love the Healthy Butcher as they have very friendly and knowledgeable staff, offer delicious gourmet foods and of course they have a great selection of organic and locally grown fresh meats and sustainable seafood. It’s great to shop at a place where they are so passionate. I have heard amazing stories about their courses too… especially the sausage making ones. They get booked up months in advance. Look out for them and book dad in for a ‘great Dad’ present. He will be over the moon! They have fresh turkeys around holiday time too. Be sure to order in advance though. They sometimes have a few left over. They do something with a duck inside a turkey too. I have not heard good reviews about that one, so ask around before trying it out.

Rawlicious

Rated this place:

3092 Dundas Street West, Toronto, Ontario, M6P 1Z8

Rawlicious

Rawlicious: For those in the west end, now you have the chance to see what the fuss is all about! Raw food… that is so yummy. Kids really get into eating fresh sprouts, raw pizza and rice paper rolls. A small but cozy place that will have you going back for more. I tried their ‘hot chocolate’ once when I met a friend there. Wow, it was so rich and healthy as it didn’t have any sugar in it and was made with raw cacao (one of the most nutrient rich foods there is!) so I didn’t feel guilty. They are branching out and now also have special documentary nights.
