Ok Korean, Japanese no sure
Rated this place:
My first rule is never eat Japanese food at a Korean restaurant and vice versa. This includes Japanese restaurants that are run by Koreans. This however does not mean that you should not go to a Japanese restaurant run by a Koren person. There are usually several Korean items not on the menu that you can order. My favorite is Hwe Dopbab, which is rice vegetable and raw fish *(yum yum).At Hosu there was actually a Korean menu so I order the dorsut bibimbap and my wife ordered the kimchi chigae. The bibimbap was ok but the ingredients were westernized. For instance, there was broccoli in my bibimbap (not a good sign). The beef was tender and the marinade was not bad. From experience, if the marinade is bad usually the person who is cooking is not of the ethnicity from which the food came. This is common in California. As for the Kimchi Chigae, the broth was not bad but chef put Western Cabbage in the chigae, which really made my wife angry. As you noticed there is a trend at this restaurant to use ingredients which are not appropriate for the dish. Conclusion: If you are desperate for Korean food Hosu wold be a good place to go. In other words the food did not make me gag but if you go about one mile south or two miles north you can do better.
