Mezmerizing MEC

I have a friend that gets mesmerized by large grocery stores and can spend hours looking at shelves full of new and interesting products. That’s how I feel when I go to MEC, downtown Toronto’s outdoor gear and clothing super store.The gadgetry on display here is second to none. Dingles for every outdoor sport or activity and dongles to keep you safe and stylish while you do them. I don’t know what half the stuff does, but I’ll stare at it for a while and like it.If you’re a fair weather biker, like me, it’s a one-stop shop for lights, reflectors, mudguards and the like, all at great prices. And for everyday use items, like backpacks and wallets, I always keep coming back.

I've always loved MEC. I bought my first backpack there before going to Europe way way back when. And I bought my second pack there before heading to Asia. I still have both and they're still in great condition after much use and active travels. But MEC is much more than backpacks and a provider of great outdoor goods. What I really love and why I continue to be loyal is that I know that their environmental values are my environmental values. From sustainably sourced materials, including organic cotton and recycled polyester, to a whole bunch of ways in which they green their own operations MEC gets that sustainability is the way to do business, not sometime in the future, but now. As for service I've always had good experiences with staff who have time to help and offer their knowledgeable advice.

They have really, really, really high-quality innovative, efficient and great-looking gear. its a little pricier but i find it to be great bang for one's buck, especially if you shop out-of-season.

Faux camping

Rated this place:

A parent at a recent Bunch event tells us that on cold or rainy days he likes to take his family for an hour or so of faux camping at MEC. They try out the different tents pitched on the main floor and play on the climbing wall. Free and fun!
