Title

Rated this place:

Enoki mushroom, Pocky, sushi-making equipment, frozen fish, decent quality produce, locally made pickled goods, tons of instant noodle choices (like, 50 or so) - this place (in Korean Town on Bloor St near Christie St) is a paradise for adventure-foodies in search of bargain food-shoppin'. For real. Lots of primo merchandise for fair prices. If you're checkin' this place for the first time, be prepared to be sucked in for a while by the variety and, for those who can't read Korean, the lack of English translation on packaging.

*THE* supermarket for asian foodies...

Rated this place:

...which isn't to say foodies who are asian, but foodies who love cooking with asian ingredients. In actual fact, this supermarket caters mostly to lovers of Korean and Japanese foods (in that order), but it's the size of a Loblaws, meaning you can find pretty much anything you want here. Many ingredients are imported from overseas, and for those you're paying a premium -- you can spend nine dollars on a small box of snacks if you care to -- but when you're jonesing it just doesn't matter.

Asian amusement park

Welcome to Disneyland. Once your head stops spinning and your eyes begin to focus, you’ll realize that you’re surrounded by goodness. Check the frozen meat and seafood section for huge bulk deals, and the dry goods isles for all the unique snack items you can handle. Not to mention a fridge stocked with more vitamin packed power-ups than Mario has mushrooms.

This grocery store by Christie station carries all my favourite Asian products at a reasonable price. I go to stock up on tofu noodles, sushi rice, spicy red pepper sauce, pumpkin cakes and green tea ice cream!

Asian market

Rated this place:

This Koreantown Asian groceteria has a great selection of Korean and Japanese food items including fresh produce, meats and seafood, bakery items and frozen foods, and all kinds of packaged goods and prepared foods. Also some housewares. I can find everything I need for Japanese cooking, and a few things I don't need at all - like sweet rice dumplings and pocky.
