There's nothing better than a quirky museum..

Rated this place:

...and there's nothing quirkier than a museum about shoes! (With the possible exception of the International Museum of Surgical Sciences in Chicago -- shudder.) 1000 shoe-related items on display at any time, as well as travelling exhibitions; the main exhibit takes you through 4500 years of shoestory culminating in a special walk through the footwear of the stars.

Bata Shoe Museum

Rated this place:

This is a nice museum where you won’t see the latest shoe collection rather you will come to know about how shoes actually evolved in different countries, sports and very few celebrities shoes. There is a vast collection of shoes from various parts of the world. It’s a little expensive but not a big issue.

More than shoebox goodness

Rated this place:

Named after the well-heeled shoe business empire of the Batas, this unique museum is one of the few in the world that exhibit exclusively shoes. The building located on the southwest corner of St. George and Bloor Sts. symbolizes a shoe box about to be opened, and museum-goers are offered not just fantastic footwear to salivate over but also the intricate histories on why addicts go crazy over boots, stilettos, clogs and more.

Shoe museum

Rated this place:

As a passionate shoe-lover I was pleasantly surprised and intrigued to learn that T.O. had a museum solely dedicated to the art of shoes...my advice: first trace the evolution of the shoe at the musuem and then go express your new-found knowledge through some shoe shopping at the nearby Bloor shops!

Cheap entertainment

Rated this place:

Now free on Thursday evenings from 5-8 pm. Wacky as it sounds - shoes can actually tell you a lot about a culture, and the Bata Shoe Museum is one of the more memorable museums I've been to. It's pretty big, and they have shoes from throughout the ages, many of which are incredibly intricately designed.
