Community coffee hub

Rated this place:

Cherry Bomb

Roncesvalles village has all the attributes of a true community, and this cute coffee dispensary is a true community hub. With a small rotating cast of hip folk working the counter, you’ll feel like a regular by your third visit. In addition to the delicious Dark Horse coffee (by the cup or bag), the real treats are the baked goods made in-house every morning, likely still steaming for you lucky early birds. Many of the ingredients change with the seasons, so be sure to always ask what’s fresh that day.In the warmer months, you’re sure to find quite the neighbourly scene outside, often spilling over to the Film Buff benches two doors over. If you’re new to the area, make his buzzing coffee stop a ritual. You’re bound to settle in nicely.

Fave neighbourhood fuel-up

Rated this place:

Any day that starts off with a stop at the Cherry Bomb is a day destined to go well. Over the last 18 months I've become a bona fide addict - the type who gets all Pavlovian salivaish at the site of the jauntily perched namesake explosive above the Bomb's door; the type for whom the time spent in line there, breathing in the aroma of fresh brew and warm baked goods, seems almost as good as 5 more minutes in a warm, comfy bed; the type who gets sad when the C.B. shutters up for its twice-yearly vacations, and honestly giddy the first day they're back in biz. And though everything is top-notch, I've got a couple of favourites... The apple walnut muffins (available only on the weekend) are delish. The date pecan scones (available daily, you lucky ducky) are my go-to if I'm in a pastry mood. And the sweet, chewy amaretto cookies (comprised mostly of ground almonds) are irresistably delicious - some of the best cookies around for nut-lovin' sweet-tooths. The baby rugggies are also delicious and adorable. Buttery perfect with just the right amount of fruity jam and toasty nuts. These ones come from Wanda's Pie in the Sky, local purveyor of fine baked goods. In the coffee department, the Cherry Bomb house blend and the kamikaze americano (organic, fair trade) are both smooth and rich and worth every minute of the 5 or so you'll spend waiting in line with the other converts to quality coffee. Make it a pleasant ritual.

Coffee

Rated this place:

The vibe is oh so sweet seventies/ikea/friendly/cool graphics/tight squeeze/fresh-baked and the coffee (espresso, for me) is fresh, free trade, dark, never burned, never bitter, always divine, and with a stupendously perfect crema. Plus they make their own yummy scones, killer pain au chocolate... and the line moves FAST but you can hang out in the window seats. My kids love it, too.

Coffee

Rated this place:

The most delicious, creamy lattes I've ever had. It's ruined me for coffee anywhere else. The chocolate biscotti and scones are also amazing! It's one of my very favourite places.

Coffee shop

Rated this place:

They have Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee. This stuff is nectar of the gods. The staff is really nice. Long opening hours. A place to buy good coffee rather than a hangout.
