If you're going to splurge on a night at the movies anyway instead of renting something, may as well pay an extra couple of bucks and get treated well. Ordering from your seat, and the massive seats and tables to rest your popcorn, really do make it a better experience.

It's close by and it's not a giant, studio propoganda spewing, commercial behemmoth. Regular sized theatres and not too conspicuous. Plus it shows a nice mix of indie vs. blockbuster picks.

It's not like those gigantic mega-plexes that seem to draw high-schoolers who have nothing better to do than block the doorways.

Varsity is great for a few reasons. It's right above the Bloor Street Cafe, near public transit, in a great section of town and always has decent movies showing. A good date place as there are bars and cafes nearby to hit up after the movie.
