I used to go to the dance cave a lot, but I've gotten completely sick of the crowd. It's too frat-ish with a mix of suicidal hipsters. I like hipsters, but the ones who frequent the dance cave seem more bipolar than at other places. At this point, dance cave is a bad habit that I've mostly broken.

For Annex locals, too lazy to get on a streetcar and too broke to get a cab, Dance Cave is the reliable, logical choice for sweaty dancing. An unlikely mix of hipsters, underaged kids, grad students, music nerds, and frat boys rock out here to the equivalent of comfort food in tunes: the Strokes, the Stones, OutKast, Pulp and New Order. No pretension, just quality times. There’s always an eccentric or three to keep things appealingly wacky. I particularly enjoy the guy who wears flannel pyjamas and the dude who does ballet moves in skinny jeans. If you lived in the Annex while at university, this is probably the site of many of your life milestones. U of T alumnae are entitled to return for nostalgic, alcohol-infused, dancing bliss.

I'd say the one deterrent to hitting the cave is the perpetual weekend lineup to get in. Is it warranted? Absolutely. People know where to go for good music and uninhibited dancing. It's a no-brainer. Just get there early enough to strut right in -- as much as skin-tight skinny jeans allow, anyway. I enjoy the many nooks in which young (and less young than they'd like to be) lovers can make out until the lights come on...or was that just me...

It is so much fun! The Dance Cave has cheap drinks, great music and a ton of energy! It's a great place to go out and let lose for a fun nigt with your friends.

At first it looked sketchy, but the experience is awesome! Great DJs, heplful servers, one big party to dance your ass off.

I could be hungover, tired from work, or just in an unfortunate mood, the atmosphere at dance cave - the music, the bartenders, the people, -always makes my feet start tapping, my hand start pumping and a smile start to spread across my face.
