Forget the fake lake - head to Fake Beach!

Imported sand aside, this small harbourfront oasis is a nice spot to sit, chat and watch planes take off. During the warmer months, there's no shortage of free entertainment rolling by...bmx'ers and skaters trying new tricks, cyclists in neon spandex, cute babies in strollers, and so on. Good times.

New park

Toronto's downtown waterfront desperately needs more parks. This park, while fairly small, is well located and well, rather cute. I love the sand beach with the permanent sun umbrellas. The grassy knolls with the trees are a nice backdrop and block out the hustle and bustle of the city behind.

This is a cute lil man-made beachy area along the harbourfront which is a nice spot to take a break from your walk/bike ride/rollerblading to sit and relax in one of the muskoka chairs for a few minutes and look out over the lake to the islands. It was strangely not even very busy when I was there on a Saturday.

It's new! A "beach" just south of the SkyDome. Peri loved playing in the sand (and mommy too because for some reason the sand didn't stick too much unto Peri and her clothes). Get there early and you'll have access to your own beach umbrella and Muskoka chair.
