This cafe/bakery shop captures the senses and charms both first time and repeat visitors. Often buzzing with birthday parties (for kids and adults), small get-togethers and locals stopping by for a Sunday afternoon break, this small shop owned and run by Kyla is just plain fun and delicious.

It's a candy store for kids and adults alike - pies and tarts, madeleines, fruit tarts, butter tarts, ice cream, floats, sundaes, illy coffee and specialty tea, cookies, cupcakes big and small complete with a shelf lined with giant brightly coloured French macarons in huge glass jars. And you guessed it - the specialties served at at Madeleines, Cherry Pie and Ice cream are madeleines, cherry pie and ice cream. All products are baked fresh at the shop and most are made daily.

Stop in on a lazy afternoon for a cappuccino, a taste of their mini cupcakes, tarts or macarons in a slightly old-fashioned soda shop setting with tons of modern charm. They also do wedding cakes, cakes for special occasions, host Sunday brunches on their garden patio in the backyard during the summer and a ton of different small party or get-together activities and options. Go for a cookie-decorating (and eating) afternoon, a fun afternoon tea menu or a butterfly-making lesson.

If you love sweet treats - pie, cookies, chocolates, cake, ice cream, tarts - you'll find it here. The owner is a pastry chef and everything is homemade on the premises. The desserts are beautiful looking and even better tasting. Coffee, tea, lattes and other hot drinks are also very good. I suggest having your dessert here because of the quaint and charming atmosphere. The cafe also sells chocolates, candies and giftware. You can even order wedding cakes, and they do catering. I attended a bridal shower here during the summer and we ate outside on the backyard patio. It was beautifully lit up with white lights, and the hors d'oeuvres and cupcakes served were absolutely delicious.

Mmmm, pies. They certainly know how to make them well, and with seasonal pies ranging from rhubarb custard in the spring and limoncello meringue in the winter there's always an interesting new combination to try out. They also provide some delicious pastries (including their namesake) and a Sunday brunch in a beautiful back patio in the summer.

Though there’s a couch in the front room à la Central Perk where you can enjoy a delightful cappuccino, this Annex jewel is more than a café. Kyla & family serve up an extensive range of treats that will satisfy any craving. Enjoy a signature madeleine in the morning or a scoop of Kawartha Dairy ice cream on the back patio on summer night. Goods on offer that are not made by the family are hand-picked by them: exquisite teacups sit comfortably alongside tiered wedding cake samples
