Grilled chicken curry sandwich, Mid-morning patio chill-out

Rated this place:

A melange of grilled chicken, grapes, walnuts and a curry mayo dressing are a great way to dress up a couple slices of fresh challah, if you ask me.

The surrounds are the perfect balance of big ol' trees, heritage buildings, queen west west fashion inspiration, artfully mismatched furniture, and, most importantly, a display of tasty-looking breakfast options, all available from the menu.

re-discover the Drake

Rated this place:

just went recently and was very impressed with their "starving artist" part of the menu, a beer and a burger (according to patrons, a great burger!) for $10... you can't beat that!

Eco-Friendly

great menu, great spaces

Rated this place:

We consistently enjoy delicious brunches and dinners at the Drake. Friendly, aware and attentive service is the norm. If you enjoy burgers, this is the best one in town. If you want a comfortable spot for a romantic date, a large table for a family gathering or a private space for a private party, this is the spot in Toronto. They have it all, including a rooftop patio for all seasons. ECO-ASPECT - The menus are built from organic, "local and seasonal ingredients and inspired by Anthony Rose." Now only if they would serve organic beer!

Hipsters like kids

Rated this place:

It's true. The cool kids who work at the Drake Hotel actually like children, making it that much more comfortable and fun for you to stake out a table for brunch. This may be an unpopular opinion in some circles, but I really do love the Drake. They do everything right. The food is really good, the staff is really good, the place is good looking and they don't give your four-year-old the stink eye.

Queen West Cool

The Drake Hotel

The decor of this updated hotel is amazing. I love the damask/rorschach inkblot pattern on the walls of the lounge.

The patio is amazing year round. They've winterproofed it, but it's definitely more spectacular in the summer. There is lots of comfy seating in their skylounge and the bar is big enough that you don't have to fight your way to the front to get served.

The spicy tuna sushi is one of the best maki rolls I've had in my life. The quality of the fish was amazing! Few people know that on Mondays (and weekdays between 5-7) they offer some steep discounts on food and drink

The Drake Crash Pad

Rated this place:

Romantic weekend getaway (without ever leaving T.O.) Ever want a romantic weekend away but find you’re too cash/time strapped to get out of the city? Try a “Crash Pad” room at the Drake. The rooms are tiny but cozy and have been outfitted with some unique elements, such as handcrafted items by local artists. They also have all the standard touches that you would expect from a boutique hotel: Malin + Goetz bath products, flat screen TVs and nice bed linens. Plus you’re close to tons of great restaurants, nightlife and brunch spots. You come back feeling like you’ve actually been somewhere, even though you’re only a hop, skip and a taxi ride away from your own place. Best bet—ask for a room with exposed brick wall.

The Gladstone's slicker twin

Rated this place:

The backlash against the so-hip-it-hurts Drake was born almost before it opened, but the truth is, it hosts some of the most interesting cultural events in the city; it's also great for music or just a couple drinks. Put on your fancy pants, tho, unless you want to feel like the most boring person in the room.

Place to perform

Rated this place:

I’ve had great memories with The Seán Schau, my live variety show at the Drake Hotel Underground. It’s where I met the orb who is my co-host. It is a glowing Orb. You’d be impressed if you saw it.

Cocktail

Rated this place:

Located on Queen St. W. amongst an array of trendy shops and hip art galleries, the Drake is home away from home for the creatively inclined. Complete with 19 crash pads, a European-influenced lounge, raw sushi bar, neighbourhood cafe, licensed rooftop patio, restaurant and last, but not least -- The Underground, a lower level entertainment space designed to work with, not against its mix of performing artists, visual artists and live musicians...
