Rated this place:

The Healthy Butcher

The Healthy Butcher has a great selection of homemade, gourmet prepared foods such as seasoned meat, soups, pastas, Italian specialty dishes, antipasti and starters. Some of the items are frozen, but you’ll also find ready-to-eat foods. The shop sells organic meat and local products, so you know you're getting all the goodness and none of the unwanted additives. It really is the hippest butcher in town – just ask the trendy Queen Street West crowd that frequents the place. I know the owners too and they are super friendly, just like the staff.

LIVE TO EAT on Eglinton!

Rated this place:

What a pleasure it is to shop on Eglinton West at the Healthy Butcher. Even though their store name implies meat, they are my stop gap measure in between farmer's markets for local and organic fruits and veggies, fish, cheese, bread and eggs. In a very small store (compared to a grocery store), you can buy everything from safe cookware, spices, organic condiments + flours, delicious artisinal cheese and crackers (monforte sheep's cheddar and evelyn's crackers...yum!), the best popcorn (passion popcorn from Ontario) and lots of nut-free and organic products (if you haven't already tried Mapleton's Organic Cappuccino Ice Cream, you must!). The staff are absolutely wonderful and very accommodating for any special requests. Even though there is no "easy" parking, it's easy in and easy out (they will carry their groceries to your car)...and open 7 days per week. 2 other locations also...it's worth the drive.

For the meat-lovers...

Rated this place:

The Healthy Butcher

I love the Healthy Butcher as they have very friendly and knowledgeable staff, offer delicious gourmet foods and of course they have a great selection of organic and locally grown fresh meats and sustainable seafood. It’s great to shop at a place where they are so passionate. I have heard amazing stories about their courses too… especially the sausage making ones. They get booked up months in advance. Look out for them and book dad in for a ‘great Dad’ present. He will be over the moon! They have fresh turkeys around holiday time too. Be sure to order in advance though. They sometimes have a few left over. They do something with a duck inside a turkey too. I have not heard good reviews about that one, so ask around before trying it out.

Tastiest elk sausage money can buy

Rated this place:

The Healthy Butcher

The first time I went into The Healthy butcher, I ended up walking out with a pork, pear and stilton sausage, and one made with elk meat and blueberries. The staff were friendly and offered great suggestions on what to pair the sausages with and how to cook them. Since then, I’ve kept coming back not only for the excellent cuts of meat but also for the tubs of homemade soup stock and the bags of heirloom root vegetables they sometimes have (both of which once helped me make the best stew in the universe). Conveniently located and totally worth the price considering the quality and service you’re actually getting.

Sandwiches

Rated this place:

They have really good sandwiches, not really the main reason people frequent this place (which is awesome all around,) but worth checking out in my opinion :)
