Toronto Music Garden

My favourite place to go for a walk in the entire city is the music garden on the shore of Lake Ontario. Near the Harbourfront Centre and nestled right between the lake and Queen’s Quay, this sprawling and beautifully landscaped oasis is perfect for summer strolls or winter walks. It's full of winding, intricate paths that lead in and out of wide open spaces and some more private, secluded spots. Excellent place to take an unsuspecting date. The garden was designed to interpret Bach's First Suite for Unaccompanied Cello, so each portion of the garden corresponds to one section of the musical piece. Whether it's a faithful interpretation of the music or not, it certainly makes for a beautiful lakeside spot for walks, picnics and impromptu performances. Sometimes, they hold concerts there. I once stumbled upon a poetry reading and ended up sitting on a rock and staying until the end.
