Some of the best sandwiches and muffins around! Organic and fresh vegan food that can even make a meat-eater like myself think twice! In the heart of Kennsington, great for a quick bite and some people watching

I love getting to pick and choose ingredients for a dish, even if I'm not the one cooking it. My favourite thing to order at Urban Herbivore is one of their terrific, big salads. You pick your greens and then choose from a wide array of toppings - from veggies to nuts, tempeh, tofu and more. Sesame tempeh-avocado sandwiches and root vegetable curry rice bowls are also available (among, actually, a decent spectrum of inexpensive and delicious vegan choices. It's the down-home sister restaurant to fancypants Fressen, and both are great examples for us meat eaters of how a vegan meal can be so creative and yummy that you don't miss a single drop of dairy or morsel of meat.

It takes some special ingredients to convert the skeptics who think that eating plants must be boring – and to prove it using sandwiches! Urban Herbivore rises to the occasion time and again with barbecued tofu, sesame tempeh, avocado and celery root and two tasty kinds of bread.

They make their own flatbread that is full of yummy grainy goodness and is stuffed full of the freshest sesame tempeh, avocado, sprouts, and more! Good enough to convert the biggest carnivore into a veggie - even if it is just for one meal.

Choose your perferred greens and build out, selecting 6 tasty toppings from among a couple dozen. Seasoned and grilled tempehs and tofus, toasted nuts and seeds, a variety of steamed, raw and grilled veggies and sprouted pulses and seeds- all so flavourful, colourful and nutritious. The lemon tahini dressing is always my fave. And everything's organic. The place is cheery, and offers great views of Kensington. And the take-out containers are bio-degradable.

It's entirely vegan and therefore, incredible for the planet! It's also extremely delicious - thick slabs of creamy avocado, a mouth-watering savoury dressing, assorted veggies grilled to perfection, on homemade, expertly seasoned focaccia. Amazing.
