All About the Atmosphere
Rated this place:
Built into a Victorian townhouse with nooks and private rooms on two floors, velvet-curtained booths-for-two, Zydeco and Louisiana music swirling and bumping throughout, all kinds of cheese-tastic Big Easy decorations mashed together, psychic readings and super-casual service, this place is truly a unique Toronto find! They offer a wide selection of house cocktails (though the quality of the drinks isn't consistent) and the food is fair. I enjoyed the breaded catfish and the blacked chicken livers. The hushpuppies, however, disappointed me on two occasions ( though I liked the accompanying garlic lime piquant sauce). What else. Hmm. The Piquant Shrimp, unfortunately, was overcooked. But yeah, this place is all about the atmosphere. It's just one of those places you want to get all loud and uninhibited in with good friends over snacks and lots of drinks. For that reason it's perfect for a birthday party or a reunion. On that note: There's a sizable patio, and parties of all sizes can book spaces of various capacities (you can even book the whole restaurant).
